Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

AG does guarantee her work, and has liability insurance. Thankfully AG has never need to use either during her time in the industry.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

When I was 16 I worked in retail and I was approached by a colleague and later a customer, who both mentioned that I should get into makeup as I was naturally good at doing my own. I got a job at Myer Christian Dior & worked my way up.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

So many! I have a groups of customers who have followed me for over 8 years, these are my "Groupies". I have been there for their weddings, their parties, the baptism of their children, their children events, balls etc, its like I'm family through my makeup

What do you like most about your job?

There are 2 things; when a client asks lots of questions about the makeup and wants to learn, it shows genuine interest in what I do. Also the final result, at the time of reveal the wonderful expressions of joy on my clients face.

A general chat can do the trick, ensure your professional truly understands your needs and requests are and they don't just talk over you. Find out their personal experience, where they have worked and ask to see unfiltered, un-photoshopped photos of their work. Make sure they are approchable.

Common concerns about their skin needs and durability of the makeup application.  I am a qualified Beauty Therapist (although I do not work at a salon), so I can often recommend skin treatments pre makeup application. With regards to durability I can guarantee my makeup will last all day and night.

To be at the top level in the Makeup industry you MUST gain a level of trust within your community & clients as well as reliability and commitment to any job. Without it you would fail. This industry is so personal that reliability & trust are the base of a successful business.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

AG photos speak for themselves. You too can have the quality of makeup as in the photos. No photos are photoshopped, so what you see is what you get. AG does use studio lighting or natural day light in order to avoid the camera washing out colours.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Makeup is such a personal experience that summing it up into 3 things is difficult, all people have special requests and needs. If we had to sum it up it would be: 1. Time/Date of request 2. Makeup Type; ie. Bridal, Special Event or Group 3. Location; At my Perth Studio or at your home.

Save your money by selecting the right makeup artist from the beginning. There is a saying, "there will always be someone who can do it cheaper" meaning you will have to settle for the quality. If you want it cheaper then a Department store is always an option

The level of Artistry that is offered through AG, along with the level of experience in comparison to the price a client pays is extraordinary. Generally this level of Artistry is at least double the amount.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Payment is usually either Cash or Direct Debit transfer. When you book in AG requires a deposit of around 25-30%, this will ensure that your time with AG is secured.

AG has worked on hundreds of faces, all with very different skin types, skin tones, makeup needs and requirements, she understands what the everyday woman wants. AG is a self taught artist as she believes true artistry can not be taught, it is something that is innate.
