As a professional bookkeeper I have current PI Insurance and as part of the obligations of being a member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and The Tax Practitioners Board I must work within the laws and legislation's governing my Profession

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I did the "books" for my husband and also worked in administration and banking. Somehow I just fell in love with "balancing" . People think bookkeeping is just throwing figures into columns but it goes much deeper than that.  You have to understand what the implications are of getting in "wrong"

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

I was called in to set up the books for a brand new cafe and collaborated with the new owners and a number of "add on" application suppliers for their in house software and in doing that was able to streamline a lot of the manual data entry and accuracy. It was a win all round

What do you like most about your job?

People, numbers, training. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to set up a SME accounting file and help and guide a new business owner. Problem solving. I also get a huge kick out of a "Reconciled bank statement" Yes I really did say that .

Once it is established that the professional has all the correct qualifications in place then its all about building a relationship and getting the support and information needed to manage and grow their business. I am always the one they will speak with.

Q. How much will this cost. A. Until I have processed at least 1 month or in some cases 3 months I can only guess  but if the business is quite small maybe 4-8 hrs per month. Q. Can I do anything to cut the cost A. Make sure all supporting documentation is readily available.

Does the business currently use any Accounting Software preferably using bankfeeds In depth details of how the business runs and the paperwork trail Does the client have employees/contractors requiring payroll support Is BAS/IAS lodgement required. Is Superannuation lodgement required How much if any of the bookkeeping work will be done by client.

Preparation is always key. No shoe box of receipts please if you want me to be cost effective:) Having all business related details and documents including bank statements, insurances, loans,  Software details/logins Supporting documentation for bank transactions.

With Single Touch Payroll becoming mandatory on the 1/7/19 for all business's with 1 employee or more I would like to assist clients work through this compliance in a streamline and easy way. There are several software options to choose from and I can support and help make the right choice.
