We are a fully insured business with Public Liability, Workers Compensation, and Home Owners Warranty insurance policies current.  We contract an extend 1 year defects liability period.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I decided to become a builder when I was 16 years old and I assisted my grandfather doing renovation work. After that I finished high school and completed a degree in project management and quantity surveying.

Building solar passive homes which are energy efficient and water wise. I love hearing feedback from our past clients on how little they need air con, and how low their power / water bills are.

We are a medium sized builder of energy efficient homes and renovations. All of our work is built using in-house details, and solar passive principles. Our five supervisors are assigned a maximum of two jobs to manage at any time.

1. Keep the floor space to a minimum. 2. In the case of demolition of existing residence prior to construction, have a licensed 3rd party perform this and avoid our margin. 3. We work very hard on finding a pricing solution for all viable jobs. We have two Quantity Surveyors in house who provide accurate budget estimates.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Ambient Designs charge $ 9000 GST incl for a full set of working drawings suitable for submission to both planning and building departments of local council. Swell Homes budget most contracts to be 20% over actual costs.

We have a black belt in renovations and extensions having been building them for over 30 years. Our design partner Ambient Designs works in unison with us to provide fully budgeted concept designs prior to completion of the design process of all work.

All staff hold degrees, diplomas, or certificates relevant to our line of business. Those who do not are trainees who are under mentor ship and in study.
