How did you decide to get into your line of work?

My grandfather was a master craftsman, he built guitars, kitchens, jewelry boxes. He lit the spark when I was very young. After University I decided to get an apprenticeship, to follow in his foot steps.  And now, my son, who is turning 16 soon, is interested in coming to work with me.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

I hung a cavity sliding door for a customer, he needed it done straight away. So that evening, after been onsite all day, I went over and fixed it up for him. He was so happy that over the next 6 months, we renovated his entire house.

What do you like most about your job?

I am a woodworker / maker, and I get to do my hobby as my job. I have always loved to work with my hands.  I also love my clients, they challenge me with fun and creative projects!

Strong design and problem solving experience. I am currently putting my Carpentry and Waterproofing licence thru the QBCC. So you are getting expert advice at handyman prices

1. Think about the functionality and purpose of what you are trying to achieve. 2. Whats the big picture, no point replacing doors if you are going to renovate next year.  3.Draw it or get me some photos, pictures tell a thousand words

Its not just the amount you pay, its the quality you get. With 15 years experience, you don't just get another handyman, you get a Carpenter who is studying to be a builder soon. I keep on top of all building legislation and regulation, and I always try to save my clients money where I can.

How do you normally charge for your service?

My flat rate is $35 per hour, and a lot of the time that includes materials for small handyman type jobs.  On school holidays, you will get to see my apprentice in training, my son Oscar comes out and gives me a hand onsite.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Whilst I love Carpentry, I am also a fully qualified Waterproofer. I always consider the entire build concept in all of my works.

15 years experience as a Carpenter, I have been running jobs as a Foreman in Sydney , renovating multi million homes.
