I have full professional and public liability cover and I guarantee my work for 2 years. I am a registered Government supplier and carry out commercial and residential painting as a Government supplier

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I had no choice - at the age of 16 my mum said you are leaving school on Friday and you start your apprenticeship on Monday.  I probably would have been a Jockey or a Chef !

There are too many to mention in this small space; when or if I have the opportunity to be your painter I would love to share them, especially those where I worked as the main Painter for a hotel in Edinburgh Scotland!  You'll laugh

I love my work as I take pride in all work that I undertake.  It is very pleasing to have the clients refer me onto their family or friends as they know that they will get the same professional service every time.

Customers should ask about the type of materials that would be suitable for the work and always to save the customer money wait until they need say all the bedrooms; or the whole house rather than a door or hallway as it is much more cost effective to paint or decorate larger areas.

Is this the right colour or is it too heavy or light for the area I wish to have painted?  My answer is always choose lighter colours for main walls and choose a feature wall to give depth or warmth to a room.

Having never left my career as a painter and decorator I understand what customers look for and when I say that I will be at the job at a time and date I am there I will not let them down; if I have to change a time or day I always give plenty of warning.

I take pride in my work and I deliver a professional quality service every time.  I guarantee my work; I only use quality materials and paint - If I arrange a time and day to meet I will be there.

I prefer to see the work that needs to be undertaken rather than ask the client to list or detail what their needs are.  This way it saves the customer time and effort and it is much better for me to give an accurate quote for the work

Customers always have ideas in mind of what it is they require especially when it comes to colour; I can assist them so that they do not waste money on lots of colours but rather choose what will achieve the best result for them.

I review the work scope and provide a detailed quote so that the customer can see exactly what they are paying for.  I itemise everything and price the job which includes all of the paint or materials required.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Wall papering is coming back into fashion and I have seen some terrible work that has been done.  If you choose to have wall paper consult your Painter or Decorator first before you buy it.  Many wall papers here in Australia are not suitable for the climate and can cause you lots of headaches if it is not applied correctly.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have completed a full four year apprenticeship and was trained by the leading Painting and Decorating company in Edinburgh Scotland.  I also have a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating from TAFE and I am a registered Painter through the Department Of Commerce (formerly the PRB)
