Frequently Asked Questions
Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?
We carry the required insurance as required by Energy Safe Victoria and all work comes fully guaranteed.
What do you like most about your job?
The type of work is always changing, one day we are installing down lights in a City apartment , the next day we are installing a fuel system in far north Queensland.
What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?
Will you give me a certificate of electrical safety on completion , Answer MUST be Yes, if you do not receive a certificate of electrical safety ( either non-prescribed for minor works) or (prescribed for major inspected works) there is something fishy!!! do not proceed even if they are cheeper!!
What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?
Can you do it any cheeper? Yes i could if you want the quality to drop and for me to use inferior parts and never give you a warranty on my work, Its just not worth trying to squeeze a dollar, I am completely transparent with my pricing, I will tell you point for point how much things cost and how long it will take.
What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?
I dont make promises I cant keep, I will ask you what you want from the job and advise you of how I think it could be done, too many tradesmen take the job on the customers instructions and when its not right they say " you wanted it that way" I ask, advise, complete and then watch you do the happy dance!!
How did you decide to get into your line of work?
Failed at being an astronaught ( over qualified they said) so next to that is an electrician!
What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?
tin or tiled roof, slab or wooden floor, Is there access in the roof, when are you Really going to start!, & will you give me a Tim Tam and a coffee before I start or do i stop on the way!
How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips
1 dont buy things your self, I have trade accounts and even if i put a mark up on it chances are they will be cheeper and better quality.
2. Dig Dig Dig! I hate to dig and it cost so much for me to do it but i will if you cant!
3. Treat me as a friend, friends always help each other out and are there for advise , Unless you are a serial killer then we will just keep is buisness
What makes your pricing competitive?
I dont overcharge for my services , I give you an hourly rate that anyone who has done the training , carries the same insurance takes the same pride in their work and back up services would charge!
How do you normally charge for your service?
1 A firm quote, if it go's over budget i suck it up, if it go's well i earn a living out of it and you get great work.
2. An estimate, a general guide to what the costs will be excluding the unforseen (unavoidable extras)
3. Do and charge, Just that , I start, I work, I supply stuff and at the end we sit down and add it all up!
Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?
Firstly. I dont make promises I cant keep, I will ask you what you want from the job and advise you of how I think it could be done, too many tradesmen take the job on the customers instructions and when its not right they say " you wanted it that way" I ask, advise, complete and then watch you do the happy dance!!
Secondly. I get paid well, & i dont need to overchage or hide my work!
Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?
we are great at all types of electrical works, but we are super cool at Hazardous area and explosive atmosphere protection, such as service stations, refineries and gas installations , although we approach each job with the same quality of workmanship
What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?
We hold a contractors registration and our staff are as a minimum A grade qualified, we also have endorsements for Hazardous and explosive works, confined space entry permits, hot and cold work permits, and open registrations for telecomunications and data cabling ,
Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Oneflare customers?
A comprehensive safety check is completed on all other electrical equipment, such as light fittings, socket outlets and switchboards while I am onsite, Why you may ask , well 1 i have to in order to stay compliant with the Australian standards and 2 because i want to come back and work some more!! i have 5 lamboghini's to make payments on!! NO seriously i want to build a long lasting relationship with all my clients, that may extend past this particular job and onto others!
Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?
I once quoted a large domestic job in the city and it was a doozy! big work big dollars and won it, I was told to start the following week, problem is the other contractor got told the same thing by mistake! we both turned up and thought " what are you doing here" so then decided we are both good sports, both going to need a hand on this job and decided to complete the work together , got it done in half the time and still made a living out of it and and an ongoing friendship and work mate, too bad he barricks for Richmond!
