We made a big mistake hiring Paul’s Concreting for our concreting job at a rental property. We engaged him because he said he could complete it within approximately 2 weeks. He insisted on more than 60% deposit upfront on the pretence of paying suppliers and then strung us along for 6 weeks waiting for the concrete pour. From the beginning there was confusion regarding the colour of concrete and there was disagreement about the drains and excavation levels to ensure proper drainage. After 6 weeks of excusues and postponements, he rang suggesting yet another postponement. Understandably we were not happy so when he suggested to cancel the job and volunteered to refund us some of our money we agreed. More than six weeks later we are still waiting and chasing him for our refund. Every time we have spoken to him he has blantantly lied that he has paid it or will pay it, but never has. We engaged another concreter and as suspected, Paul’s excavation levels were substantially wrong and too high. Paul Stewart was going to pour concrete over the weep holes in the brickwork of our home potentially causing long term damage. The new concreter needed to re-excavate the backyard, rectify the levels and the drains Paul had resisted fixing. We are substantially out of pocket because of the delays, incompetent work done by Paul Stewart and money he still owes us.06 May 2016
Viola Firstly i'm sorry you feel this way,The works i carried out where exactly what i explained to your husband and yourself prior to commencing any work's,you had a drain at one end of the property and another at the other end...The fall was created to take any water away from the house...Once the excavation was done i met with your husband and your father to discuss this prior to placing the concrete.Please remember your weep holes where buried by dirt prior to me starting any work and they would not of been covered by the new concrete.I advised both of you if you wanted to change the levels again it would cost approximately $1000.00 and another drain would be required in the centre of the concrete.. at your expence!..Your husband then said he was happy with the excavation and to proceed...1 day later i get a call and you both wanted it change the levels again at my expence...That is why i suggested we part way's...I am now out of pocket !
