Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

The business is fully insured with $10 million public liability insurance and all our animal handlers have a current police check which is available for prospective clients to view. If a customer is not satisfied with the work, they are guaranteed money back provided they can substantiate that we did not carry out the work as promised.

After leaving teaching secondary school students for almost 25 years, I decided it was time for a 'fur change' and finally pursued my passion for taking care of animals.

"Leaving our treasured pets behind was a difficult decision as they are such a major part of our family. Diana from 'Paws on the Move' was the answer we were looking for as our pets did not have to be traumatised by being placed in unfamiliar surroundings, especially as we had an older dog that was quite set in his ways and a little frail. Diana was very flexible with any arrangements we needed to make to enable our pets to have the most comfortable and suitable care. Diana kept us up to date regularly with emails and photos of our dogs which not only amused us but reassured us that they looked healthy, content and well looked after. We looked forward to these updates and could tell that Diana was really getting to know them well with her character descriptions and we felt she was treating them like her own. She not only provided an excellent and reliable service for our pets but the added bonus of taking care of our mail, cleaning up around the yard, taking care of bins when necessary and more. Just being a presence while we were away was a relief. What do you like most about your job?

Getting to know each and every one of my furry clients and how their owners just love their pet(s). Every pet owner has a special story to tell about their beloved furry member of the family and it just melts my heart to hear how much they love their pets and only want the very best for them at all times.

The first question is usually how my business works, that is, what style of pet sitting do you offer, or do you walk dogs solo or in groups, or can you transport my dog? The second question is pricing which I am happy to discuss; prices are also available to view on our website or Facebook page. The third question is when can we organise the meet & greet? This is usually done within the same week to ensure a timely meeting with the client and their pet(s) and go through all the questions/concerns that arise.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

In order to provide a quote for dog walking, I need to know the number of dogs to be walked, the length of the walk and the health of your dog. For a pet sitting quote, how may days will you require my services, do you want 1 or 2 visits per day, and if you have a dog, do you want him/her walked as well as fed. Also, if there is more than pet in your house, the price will vary very slightly.

Paws On The Move prides itself on its competitive pricing over boarding kennels and catteries. This is because you don't have to pay to stay in accommodation that your beloved pet dislikes and is not familiar to them.

How do you normally charge for your service?

For dog walking, it depends on the length of the walk - 30 minutes or 45 minutes, and according to the number of walks per week. For pet sitting, if a walk is to be included this will normally be 30 minutes long, then they will be fed, and the pet's area will be cleaned. Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

We specialise in dog walking on a one-to-one basis, that is, single household walks. This way the dog gets all the attention they deserve and that way we can get to know your dog better, particularly when it comes to their walking habits. For pet sitting, I make sure that the pets are very comfortable during and after my visit with them. Our DOG-ma We believe in happy, healthy pets that are exercised regularly. We believe in a balanced lifestyle, by practicing discipline and giving plenty of playtime and cuddles. We believe in the loving, dedicated care & safety of pets of all ages.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have many years experience owning and handling dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, fish etc and it is this strong attachment to animals that inspired the creation of Paws On The Move. I have undertaken animal behaviour and handling courses over the years, am currently studying Cert IV in dog training and am always looking to learn more about all types of animals. The business has seen a steady increase in the variety of animals that become our clients, therefore our database can boast an extensive menagerie.
