Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I am insured against public liability and do guarantee my work. I have not had a problem in this area and if there is an issue it is paramount to resolve such things as soon as possible to keep the customer happy.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I intended to become a signwriter and pursued every opportunity for an apprenticeship. I enjoy the design process, but also the maths and planning side and don't mind getting my hands dirty.

I once had a pharmacy owner who was known as The Dragon Lady. I did a window for her and after returning 3 times to fix things, she was happy. Through this, she told other people that I was keen to help and satisfy her and I gained some major corporate customers on her recommendation.

Things I like about my job are providing customers with ideas and working with them to provide a solution for their signage needs. When the customer is happy, then I am.

Questions a customer should ask are things like, have you done similar work before, what are your qualifications.. very important as the sign industry unfortunately is not regulated.

The most common question from customers would be 'how much ? '. I do try and educate them that cheap is not best in all circumstances and that value for money is a completely different thing.

I consider myself reliable as I understand the importance of deadlines and for a sign to look great for the intended period of time. I am trustworthy because I have a conscience and a massive sense of right and wrong.

Typical things I need to know before providing a quote are budget, expected lifespan of the sign, the feel for the design ie formal or loose feel and also location.

A customer can save money before I start work by having artwork ready, and there are mumerous ways to ensure quick and smooth production. Some customers save money by installing supplied signage themselves.
