I left high school with the desire to work and make money.Llucky for me my dad was a tiler back then so i did a lot of tiling with him. He then became a carpenter and i followed.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

If they call them selves builders ask to see their builders license, its credit card sized and has a photo of them on it and says that they are a registered builder. Ive been in the industry for a long time and i work for "True Builders". I dont call myself a builder, im a carpenter.

They generally know what they want but the do ask if it can be done. I tell them what i believe is the best way and cheapest way.

Most people think that they are the best. I'm not the best but i am good at what i do and the work speaks for it self.

First of all we all know that "honesty is the best policy" and secondly don't we all want reliable trades in the services we seek . I offer both. I will create what you want if its possible or advise you of anther way to achieve the end result which is Your Satisfaction.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Onsite consultation prefered and/or a clear description of work to be carried out so that we both and understand each other and so that neither of us loose out. Photos via phone or email also helps with the quoting too.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Do some of the work yourself if you have the skills. Try to source your own products/materials. Any preparation/removal of item to be replaced carried out by you will save you the hourly rate.

What makes your pricing competitive?

My prices are firm because i'm legitimate.I will not under cut to get the work. I'm not schooled by "You Tube" or "Bunnings DIY workshops". Once again referrals are available from real builders.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Rates reasonable but also have to be competitive. I don't have call out fees but i do have my  hourly rates which apply for small jobs, daily rates for larger jobs and of course the square meter rate which applies for builders/owner builders.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Internal and external timber work. Shelving, robe rebuilds, replace internal and external doors, eave repairs. door locks, bathroom renovations and some cabinetry.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

Over 20 years of Lock-up and Fixing carpentry experience in the new home industry. Referrals are available upon request from the builders I work for. Have labored as a framers laborer but never full time. Have certificates in both Builders Registration Qualification and Advanced Building Management(over 10 years ago through the HIA).
