Making space for the family

There’s nothing that challenges the foundation of a family and strength of a relationship than building or renovating a home together. When Ada and her husband Richard were only one year into their marriage, they took up the challenge and built their own house. bio

“It was 1984 and we had been married for one year. We bought a block of land and found a builder to show him the plan we liked,” Ada remembers.

Now with three kids living at home and a Toy Poodle who sleeps indoors too, the family wanted to upgrade and extend their space. The husband and wife duo decided to take up the challenge again by refreshing their family bathroom.

Ada was introduced to Stefan from Roma Tiling who impressed Ada with his work so much that she asked him to tile an additional room. When the bathroom renovation was completed, Ada fell a little more in love with her home.

“The new bathroom makes me feel bright, fresh and cheery. It’s not a chore cleaning my bathroom now because it always looks so fresh,” she said excitedly.

There are a few extra bits and pieces in the home that still need to be completed. And the garden too, adds Ada but most importantly, the pair look forward to retirement, just around the corner.

“I wish we had more land for some more room. We’re on the corner so we have 5 neighbours. Luckily we’re all good friends and the neighbours have built their own home to include some privacy,” Ada said.

“We want to finish it all before retirement because when we retire, we want to go travelling and camping around Australia,” said Ada.
