Paul thinks that when it comes to a romantic meal, you can look outside the box for where to host it. If the weather and location permits, you could have it on a secluded beach at sunset, or put a picnic blanket down in a nice park or reserve.

Here’s Paul’s idea for a delicious dinner:

To start

A seafood platter.

Think lobster if you want to go all-out, and king prawns served with crisp salad leaves. If you know if your loved one likes oysters, add them in too with a squeeze of fresh lemon.

What you’ll need for a seafood platter:

  • ½ dozen shucked oysters
  • King prawns, peeled
  • ½ or full lobster
  • 1 cup salad leaves with dressing
  • Fresh lemon, to taste

Arrange the fresh seafood on a large platter over ice. Place the salad leaves on one edge of the platter and drizzle the dressing over it. You’ll need to have the proper lobster utensils if you decide on including one in your platter.

Followed by

Blue cheese and walnut salad, prepared with fresh cherries for a seasonal twist.

Salad with a hint of cheese will be the perfect accompaniment to seafood. It is both fresh and hearty, leaving your loved one just enough room for dessert afterwards.

What you’ll need for the salad:

  • Baby salad leaves
  • Blue cheese, crumbled
  • Handful walnuts, halved
  • Fresh cherries, pitted and halved
  • Tbsp olive oil
  • Optional: Slices of prosciutto

Toss all ingredients together and drizzle with olive oil to taste.

To finish

Fruit salad with sorbet.

Fruit is always a great idea for dessert, and an Australian Valentine’s Day is in the heat of summer with all the delicious summer fruit still in season.

Here’s what you’ll need for a fruit salad:

  • Mixed fruit in season, sliced or diced to your preference
  • Sorbet scoops, flavour of choice
  • Garnish with a wafer or fresh mint

Why not serve your fruit salad in a martini glass with the sorbet scoop on the top? You could even make a single big portion for you and your date to share.

Well that’s the meal sorted, now all you need to do is put on some romantic music to set the scene. If you’re wondering what to get your special someone as a gift, we’ve got lots of options to make things easier for you.

You could get them a massage from one of our expert massage therapists, arrange to have their hair and makeup done by our professional makeup artists to feel extra nice at their next event, or make your love for each other extra memorable with a couples photoshoot by one of our professional photographers.
