I am insured by Lexon Insurance Pte Ltd for professional indemnity cover for all legal work undertaken.  I am also insured by AIG for professional indemnity cover for all migration work undertaken.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Not one favorite but a few recent matters: - obtaining a judgment in the Supreme Court against an Executor unwilling to pay a gift to a beneficiary - negotiating substantial changes to an off-the-plan apartment contract - negotiating a threefold increase in termination payments from an employer - obtaining judgment in the Queensland Civil & Administrative Tribunal against a landlord who refused to repay a bond - obtaining permanent residence (under skilled migration) for an applicant within 2 months

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Clients should always ask if the work can be undertaken within the timeframe (if any) that the client requires.  Fees and an estimate of disbursements should also be requested, though this may not be possible (or accurate) prior to viewing of documentation/meeting with clients.

My clients are my practice and I treat every file with the same respect and importance. All advice provided is independent, frank, easy to understand, and tailored to individual needs.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Accepted Answer

The scope of work involved, any required time frames or deadlines, and any particular concerns or needs the client has with the matter.    While some kinds of work are similar by nature each matter and client is different and more information is better than less. For example, conveyances often feature the same contract terms but each block of land is different and each purchaser or seller may have different concerns with the transaction that need to be considered.   Clients requiring a solicitor's certification (eg for Guarantee/Loan Documentation/Lease) need to provide the actual certificate so an accurate quote can be given.

What makes your pricing competitive?

I offer reasonable hourly rates for most non-transactional work and after the scope of a matter is set will agree to fixed fees for most transactional work. All work is undertaken by a qualified solicitor.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

Depends on the work. Conveyancing, Leasing, Legal Document and Migration Application Matters are quoted as fixed fee (excluding disbursements which vary from matter to matter). Advice work for legal or migration matters is undertaken on an hourly basis, at my usual rates.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have a Bachelor of Laws, Master of Laws and over 11 years of experience as a legal practitioner with experience gained in large and small firms.    Additionally I have 4 years experience as a registered migration agent and previous experience as an immigration department decision maker.
