Matt Taylor Photography

Matt Taylor is a north-Brisbane based photographer, specialising in editorial, event, sport and landscape photography. My background in photography is underlined through tertiary education, where I have gained a Diploma in Photography after 2 years study at Queensland TAFE. Through tertiary study, I have been equipped with the skills necessary to work as a professional photographer in many facets of the photographic industry, including the editorial, commercial, domestic and artistic genres. My interest in photography is in the editorial and media field, and my education and professional experience has been structured so that it may cater to this genre. I have been equipped with the skills and knowledge to work to a professional standard, both in terms of the work I produce and the way I conduct my business in the field. My professional experience in the photography industry to date, has focused mainly on producing work for media and editorial use, which has provided me a large array of skills suitable for these types of jobs. My professional experience has seen me photograph high calibre live events, having photographed for clients such as the Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium, and the Queensland Reds at Ballymore Stadium. Additionally, I have photographed editorially for West End Magazine, covering high end lifestyle and community events around Brisbane. Moreover, I over the past couple of years, I have covered the RSPCA’s annual charity event, the Million Paws Walk, with each event having attracted more than 1,000 attendees. These events for the RSPCA have provided invaluable experience covering events with a large number of people, as well as experience with photographing in response to a brief. I also have had the opportunity to photograph school events for Gregory Terrace Private School in Brisbane, which has seen me cover live performances, social events and a gala ball. My professional experience listed above, has provided my with the skills I need to photograph and produce content relating to live events, media imagery and editorial photography. In addition to an education in photography, as well as professional experience in the field, my knowledge and experience is backed up with a degree in journalism, due to be completed in 2016. My university education in Journalism affords me a high level of communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as providing me knowledge of media operation, and its role and importance in society. My degree allows me to be able to write to a professional standard, provides me with public speaking skills, and has taught me about producing content for media outlets and public relations. As a result of my studies, I am highly familiar with many facets of media operations. In my first year of entering, I won a silver award at the AIPP Queensland State Awards in the Landscape category, validating his standard of work at a high level of professional practice. My photography employs a documentary approach, that is true to life, and does not rely heavily on photo manipulation.
