I'd been suffering from slow download speed and dropouts for months and couldn't sort it out. What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?
Technicians should have at least Certificate III level qualifications and a minimum of two years on the job experience before you should consider engaging them.
Telecommunications technicians who run any communications cable, for example phone or network data cable, must hold an Open Cabler Registration and be able to present their registration card if you ask for it.
Ask if the contractor has appropriate and adequate insurance coverage. This is quite often overlooked. A professional operator will happily show you certificates of currency for their insurance if you ask.
Ask for a telecommunications cabling advice form (TCA1) if one has not been given to you after completion of work.
Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?
Fully insured with $20M public & product liability cover and $100,000 cover for property damage. All workmanship is guaranteed and any damage caused to customer premises will be repaired in a timely manner.
Physical items either provided free of charge or purchased by the customer are covered by manufacturer's standard warranty and Australian Consumer Laws.
How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips
Ensure you are home at the scheduled time the work is to be done. The standard call-out fee of $275 (GST inc) is payable if I arrive to do work and no-one is in attendance.
There must be easy access into the area where work is to be carried out so any furniture or other items must be moved out of the work area prior to my arrival on site. If items need to be moved at the time of service the standard hourly rate is charged.
Please advise well in advance if there is any reason the work may not be able to proceed at the scheduled time. Refer to the first point above regarding cancellations - a minimum 8 hours notice is required otherwise the call-out fee is payable.
What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?
I'm committed to providing the highest level of service to my customers therefore if you are requesting a quote from me, I will communicate directly with you via phone or email and ask you what I need to know in order to prepare the quote. If you are unsure of anything I will always offer to visit you at your premises to carry out an on-site assessment, then consult with you about exactly what needs to be done to solve your problem.
