How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I was a singer originally and wanted to see how I would look on TV so we purchased a very expensive video camera and I was able to refine my act .  Then lots of other entertainers asked to be videod- hens Sydney Video cameraman was born.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

A few years ago CBS in USA came to hire an underwater camera to video David Helfgott swimming in his pool just when the movie Shine was coming out.  we also and to provide a camera last week to UK media to video the young royals on their current tour of Australia.

What do you like most about your job?

I love being able to give people the RIGHT camera for their requirements and love the feed back when they come back and say they are very happy with the cameras and equipment supplied.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

Most customers don't ask enough questions so we usually have to ask the questions to make sure we are giving the customer what they require we do have a very explanatory list of cameras we can provide but it is changing rapidly so sometimes we have new cameras not on the list.

We have been in business with the same owners since 1983 so that is over 30 yrs.  i don't think there is another company in sydney who can say that but I would love to learn if there is!!

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

First I need to know what they are going to video and how they will edit then I need to know if it will be for archival purposes or to go to the net or some other medium.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Most of our customers actually hire the equipment and do the video themselves with our good instruction but we do have professional camera persons incase the client wants us to do the video.  sometimes that is cheaper if it is only a 1-2 hr session or f they require editing.

We monitor prices of other video camera hire firms but we guarantee our cameras in perfect working order and we give you tripods lights and SD cards with all cameras if required.

How do you normally charge for your service?

we can rent you a video camera from $60 for mimidv or mini dvd camera.  we also can provide multiple cameras for team building and conferences and even HD cameras for weddings.

We specialise in videoing training films and legal video depositions and legal witness video.We also copy all video tapes to DVD, including VHS, beta, video8, hi8, digital8, mimidv, dvcam and high definition tapes to DVD
