Frequently Asked Questions
Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?
Attention to detail and overall customer satisfaction are my focal points. Each job is important and although not everyone knows exactly what they need, as an electrician with 18 years experience in nearly all aspects of the trade, I'm happy to discuss your goals and how to achieve them. Anything is possible
What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?
I personally have run major projects from the Qantas refurbishment in Tullamarine to coordinating a team of 50 electricians on the most expensive project on the planet - The Gorgon Project in W.A. Just as important, I've worked on hundreds of houses and businesses, always with a happy owner.
Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?
All domestic and commercial lighting and power, switchboard upgrades, 'Safe Home' electrical safety checks, home extensions and renovations and all minor additions.
How do you normally charge for your service?
A below average hourly rate ($80hr - 15 minute increments) in addition to a call out fee ($40) to cover time and travel costs. Materials are added however if acceptable lights/power points/switches are supplied, I'm happy to install them. Rates include GST. Minimum fee is $100
What makes your pricing competitive?
Other businesses in area charge up to $110/hr plus call out fee. $80/hr plus call out is below average due to low overheads
How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips
Have a clear idea of what you want as planning often takes time. (Not all ideas are easily done, allow for minor variations)
Make sure access to roof/under floor is possible in event it is required.
If supplying lights, please have them there upon arrival. Don't forget globes.
What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?
Type of house/shop (brick, weatherboard, hebel), one or two storey, what is to be installed, replacing an existing product or installing new, is an RCD (safety switch) installed.
Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?
Yes. 24Seven Electrical has $10,000,000 public liability insurance and for peace of mind, workmanship is guaranteed for any faults. A guarantee cannot be made for all products installed as this onus is on the manufacturer.
What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?
Knowing that customer satisfaction is key to repeat business. Creating an environment of mistrust or annoyance through overcharging or untruths leaves no possibility of future work.
What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?
Are you a Registered Electrical Contractor?
Have you had experience doing similar jobs?
If the workmanship is faulty, will you repair it at no cost?
What do you like most about your job?
The challenges presented and the variety of jobs encountered daily. The satisfaction of seeing my work energised and knowing that the customer is happy with the work I've done.
Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?
Having the 2IC of a global company say to me "The eyes of the world are on you right now, be careful" when completing a critical component of the most expensive job on the planet (The Gorgon LNG Project), then have him say "Well done mate" when my team exceeded all expectations.
