I am fully insured for professional indemnity and I give a personal guarantee that my work is of excellent professional quality.  I am also able to forward Accountant testimonial as to my complete thoroughness and accuracy if required.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Accepted Answer

I always had very good organisational skills, was good at maths, and have a fairly logical way of thinking which all helps in this industry.  I always seemed to gravitate to the business financial side of any establishment I worked for and most times ended up running the place.  In 2000 I commenced my own bookkeeping business.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

No real favourites but I must admit it is a joy to help out businesses who have been disavdantaged by 'bad' bookkeeping, and teach them how things should be done correctly.  Unfortunately this is something I seem to come accross a lot with new clients who have used either non professional bookkeepeers or unfortunately had inexperienced low skill level bookkeepers taking care of their financial work.

What do you like most about your job?

Along with helping businesses to maximise their profits, I enjoy being able to utilise skills obtained in all of the different duties I perform for my varied clients, I also appreciate the social aspect of contracting to a variety of businesses, and locations of workplace.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Are they fully qualified for the work they are to carry out. How much experience have they had and in how many different industries. Are they a member of any professional Accounting/Bookkeeping associations. Make sure they view copies of any qualifications to ensure they are legitimate. Check reference where required.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

How long will it take? My answer - Only following an investigation of your bookkeeping (usually carried out in my free first hour consultation) will give me the ability to estimate how long the work should take. How much will it cost? My answer - Taken the above into consideration I will offer my hourly rate (dependant on the type of work being carried out) therefore being able to approximate the cost. Are you qualified? My answer - Absolutely and I provide evidence.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

Given my long standing career, I have many clients for whom I have worked between 5 and 20 years who are most willing to give references to attest to my punctuality and trustworthiness.  On a personal note, I have raised 5 children, manaing to combine work with sole parenting and an active role in their school life.

I am a realiable fully qualified professional Bookkeeper and registered BAS agent with over 25 years industry experience.  I pride myself in being available for telephone queries at any time for all of my clientelle.  I also offer a high level of bookeeping and financial knowledge.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

The type of business they are in, how long it usually took their previous bookkeeper, what level of bookkeeping are they requiring i.e. data entry, reconciliations, BAS work etc.  The ability to actually view their current bookkeeping systems. Whether their Accountant is available for consultation.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Accepted Answer

Ensure all source (receipts /invoices etc) documents are readily available and organised. Have to hand all bank/credit card statements for the business. View the previous year's financial statements. Have someone with some working knowledge of how the bookkeeping has been carried out previously available for consultation.

As a very efficient and well managed person I ensure all work is carried out in a timely fashion.  With my high degree of knowledge and experience and disciplined organisational skills, very minimal down time is taken.  I value my work and feel my fees are in accordance with my level of industry expertise and work ethic.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Tax Invoices detailing the professional services that have been carried out, showing hourly rate and the amount of hours, are usually forwarded by email in the evening following the completed work.  Generally a pay upon receipt invoice is issued with the exception of long term clientelle who are offered a seven day account.

I specialise in Small to Medium business bookkeeping and financial services, for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Companies.  I enjoy the opportunity of teaching business owner's and their staff how to help keep their business books where required, alternatively I am happy to take care of everything as a part of my professional services.  Business setting up is also a specialty of mine as helping to tailor make your business books makes understanding how the financial side works so much easier.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have over 25 years industry experience in servicing  bookkeeping requirements for many trades and fields.  I hold a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping (Financial Services), am a registered BAS Agent with the Tax Practitioner's Board, am a full member of the Australian Accounting Technicians and am fully insured for professional indemnity.
