Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

All Exterior Cleaning is insured ($5 million in Public Liability Insurance). All my work is guaranteed to be of the highest quality, but if I make a mistake I am happy to return and fix my mistake or compensate you in some way.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

After 10 years as a teacher I wanted a new job that was self employed, outdoors, practical, and more customer focused plus with flexible hours as my children were still young.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

My favourite customer stories are those where I was able to clean something when the customer thought it couldn't be cleaned, for example; cleaning mould off walls instead of repainting, cleaning ALL the mould from paths, cleaning and oiling timber decks instead of sanding or replacing.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

People wanting to hire an external cleaner should ask; What cleaning methods do you use? as high pressure water is not magic and a variety of cleaning products and methods (low/medium/high pressure & hand brushing) are needed. How much water pressure do you use to wash my house? as very little pressure is needed (the cleaning products do most of the work) and if more pressure is needed then it should be hand brushed. What cleaning products do you use? as most houses require mould to be killed, dirt and oil to be lifted and glass to be rinsed.

How much chlorine do you use to wash a house? My house washing solution uses about 1% chlorine, while pool chlorine is about 10% and bathroom mould killer is 5%. How much water pressure do you use to wash a house? Very little water pressure is needed, barely more than garden hose pressure, I have a large selection of nozzles to alter the pressure and distance i can spray. If more pressure is needed I use a soft broom. Do you use a ladder? Usually no, as I have nozzles that can spray 3 stories high and an extension pole for the broom that can reach nearly 3 stories.

All cleaning jobs are different, so I need to visit the site to examine and plan for; size, condition, accessibility, water supply, height restrictions, other jobs to be done before cleaning.

Customers can save time & money by doing preparations themselves e.g.  - House washing: move plants and furniture away from house, only use "out-door" electrical fixtures which are water proof. - Driveway & path cleaning: trim lawn & garden edges.

How do you normally charge for your service?

I give a quote for each job, preferably after a site inspection. The price depends upon the size & difficulty of the job, including how dirty it is, are special cleaning products and equipment needed, does it require doing out of regular business hours. Every job is just that bit different and by giving you an individual quote you get and individual job.
