We are insured through Fenton and Green, and have professional indemnity insurance.  We also guarantee our work. In an unlikely event of errors created by BookSenz, we will correct at no extra cost.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I started as an office junior many years ago. I enjoyed bookwork and had originally thought I would like to become an accountant. However, it didn't take me long to find out that I loved bookwork (putting things in order) and working with people, but not the legal tax laws that accountants need to know.  I started my own business when asked to rescue a small restaurant which was about 5 years behind in their paperwork. Amazingly, I have found my creativity has come in handy for bookkeeping. I have the ability to think "outside the box" and this has helped me solve many difficult issues when helping businesses.

I think my most favourite customer story has to be:  Thank you for your support to Blue Lizard Gallery through the services you offer through Booksenz.  Your company made it so much easier to me as a business owner to focus on the things that are critical to grow my business.  Your guidance, assistance and knowledge in book keeping is so valuable and critical for me as a new migrant to Australia to understand bookkeeping. What do you like most about your job?

I love working with people. I enjoy making a difference in lives and see this time and time again, when I help a small business understand their direction. I believe my clients, when armed with knowledge, make improvements in their business which also flows onto their personal life. Taking the stress of our their life is my pleasure!

Questions you might like to consider asking:  Are you a qualified bookkeeper? Do you have your qualifications on hand? How many years experience do you have? Are you a BAS Agent? Can you give me at least three referrals who have used your services that  I can call?

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

When business owners meet me, they are usually concerned a couple of things.  1 Business owners need to 'like' their bookkeeper they will be working with. So getting on with each other is most important.      This is usually answered when we meet. I find people are relaxed in my presence and we get on well.  2 How flexible are your services - i.e how available will you be for me when I need to talk to you?      I am always available for my clients.  Usually weekends are my family time but otherwise if I can help      you, I will be there through think and thin.  3 How much do you charge?  This is answered with how much workload do you have? Most initially start on an hourly rate and then move onto an agreed package.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

I pride in being reliable and trustworthy. If I don't know the answer to a situation, I will tell you so. But I will also tell you that I will find out the answer. Trustworthiness is a quality that is earned over time. I would be happy to give you numbers of clients present and past who will give you an understanding of my reliability and trustworthiness.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Usually its quite difficult to provide a quote for clients as it depends of how long the bookwork has been left unattended. Overtime I have developed a 'feel' for how much bookwork in the "norm" with certain amounts of turnover, so can give an estimated time and cost. I usually like to work with my clients on a long term basis, so I always like to meet clients before quoting. This way, prospective clients meet me and I them. We both get a idea of each other, and both can tell if working together would be an advantage for their business.

To save money before we start working together, you should make sure your paperwork in order.   You need to have all the relevant documents such as: bank statements, receipts, bills. Any loan schedules are used for calculating the interest component of loans, so these are important to also have. CLUE: never throw away any receipts

There is no particular aspect of trade or industry that I specialise in.   I specialise in small business entities which run a variety of business from sole trader, partnership, non profit organisations, company and trust.

I have been in accounts since 1986. My experience is vast and when I started my own business in 2009 I was well equipped with skills and knowledge to help many businesses. I keep up to date with the ATO records with continues training. My qualifications: Certificate IV in Financial Services (bookkeeping),BAS Agent, Secretarial Diploma, AAT Membership, ABN Membership
