How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I started my career in an office environment and soon realised that I wanted to do more, I have a passion for helping people and I realised that I could make a difference in businesses by advising them on how to  become more organised and efficient. Bookkeeping suited that job.

What do you like most about your job?

Accepted Answer

I love taking on a clients that may have neglected their bookwork or need to have their accounts corrected and getting in and setting up a system and getting them organised and ready for an ongoing service.  I have taken on many challenges but love to make a difference in businesses.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

They should ask the bookkeeper how they can help them and their business.  This profession is not about data entry, I like show how the client how they can by more efficient with their time in the office.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

Most customers want to know how long the work is going to take, apart from the cost.  I tell them that initially the work will take time until it is set up and organised, then usually the hours are reduced according to the clients requirements.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

I have had considerable experience as a bookkeeper.  I take pride in my job and am punctual and reliable and I actually care about the businesses I work for.  My clients have total confidence in me and my work and in most workplaces I have had access to their bank accounts and personal information.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

Accepted Answer

I have been in business as a bookkeeper for 16 years, and prior to that worked in accounts departments for various businesses.  My knowledge doesn't stop at advanced bookkeeping, I have a great passion for what I do and assist with systems management and whatever the business requires to improve its proceedures.  With this experience comes a knowledge that can only come from working with a variety of businesses, small and large and an adaptability to work with the owners and their requirements.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Things I may need to know are, how many regular days a week would you require my services or is the job to be done on a monthly or quarterly basis.  Or is the job a one of service.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Accepted Answer

A customer can save money by having their paperwork in order, by grouping bank statements, dockets and invoices together.  It also assists the bookkeeper when we have documents to substantiate the transactions appearing on the statements.

How do you normally charge for your service?

I always produce an invoice at the end of the day or session, if I am attending for more than 1 day of the week I will produce an invoice at the end of the week.
