How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I trained as any electrical fitter/mechanic, repairing electrical motors of all sizes and wiring of houses, units and data wiring of offices. Later I decided to specialise in appliance repairs, as I have done for the past 25 years.

With this service, we come to you and repair the appliance onsite, not taking any goods away, as we like to be sure the appliance is working correctly before we leave.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Quoting on repairs to any machine is very difficult if I cannot physically see or test the machine, so the more information provided the better. Brand, model number, approx. age, history of things the machine is doing or not doing is essential.

What makes your pricing competitive?

My pricing is very competitive. I ask a reasonable price, as I am a qualified, insured, and licenced electrical contractor, not just a handyman. I also realise that if I charge too much, I will lose work as customers will buy a new machine instead of repairing existing machines.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

I charge $88 per hour or part there of- if 1 minute or 60 minutes still $88- plus parts. This includes call out fee and labor. I find this is a reasonable fee as any more would be just too expensive, and customers would rather buy a new machine.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I specialise in repairs to ovens (including wall, underbench and microwave), hotplates, stoves, dishwashers, rangehoods, washing machines, clothes dryers and electrical hot waters

I am a licensed electrical contractor, in N.S.W and Queensland, with advanced training in electronics repairs, and I have been specialising in appliance repairs to over 25 years
