As I deal with animals and their behaviour I do not give guarantees.  I believe that would be foolish and misleading.  No-one can guarantee an animal's behavioural response will be reliable in all circumstances.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

My wonderful rescue shih tzu Mickey came to me when he was 2 years old and he was just perfect from the get go.  I want all dogs to be as wonderful and easy to live with as Mickey was (he passed away in February 2016).

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

They are all really great and a bit detailed for here.  Suffice to say the look of relief and joy on people's faces when their dog starts behaving as wanted, whether not jumping, coming when called, being confident around other dogs, is always gratifying.

What do you like most about your job?

Working with all the gorgeous dogs and their lovely families.  Helping the dogs learn how to live in the human world, and seeing them happy when their family finally understands what they need and how to communicate what is expected of them simply and clearly so they can comply.

Can you help my dog?  The answer is always 'yes', something can always be done to make a situation better for the dog and their human family.

Professional and friendly, I make myself available to suit most people's lifestyles.  Group classes are held on weekends, and private training is held weekdays between 11am and 8pm.  Great references can be found on the Cheeky Pup Dog Training facebook page (search for dorothycheekypup).

Professional, experienced humane trainer who only uses dog-friendly training methods proven by science.  Just as good as teaching and communicating with people as with dogs.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

My services are based on the time spent with you and your dog, so everyone is charged the same rate.  It is helpful to know your dog's name, age, breed, and whether or not they are desexed; plus any other animals in the home that may effect their behaviour.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Have you set your dog up to succeed by managing your home so they can't do the naughty things? Please keep a written record of the things your dog does that you don't like and when and where they do them so we know what problems to address as a priority. Feed your dog at set times.

What makes your pricing competitive?

I give very effective training in the time we spend working together - most dogs I work with privately only need one 2 hour session.  Importantly I teach you and your family how to train your dog so you can keep practicing to make sure your dog can do things in all kinds of situations.

How do you normally charge for your service?

A course of classes is paid for in full no later than commencement. All private training and behaviour modification is to be paid during the appointment and I accept cash, Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Behaviour modification for pups and dogs with serious 'issues' like fear reactivity, aggression, shyness, and more. Puppy Preschool classes for pups up to 4 months old; and Canine Kindy classes for dogs up to 2 years old; and private in-home training for dogs and pups of any age.
