How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I followed my passion.  I have always had dogs.  In my younger years in country Victoria it was cattle dogs to now the more suburban breed of West Highland Terriers.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Being able to save a lady $800 in vet bills as she was told her bluey/kelpie needed to sedated to have his long nails cut (which were causing nail bed pain).  We managed to cut all the nails & grind them back to a much more functional length and will be doing them regularly from now on.

What do you like most about your job?

Accepted Answer

I love hanging out with dogs all day.  It doesn't feel like work to me and I get paid to do it.  I love transforming dogs from scruffy to dapper - you can see the dog always seems happy afterwards as well.  It make me happy knowing your dog will be more comfortable after my services.

Clarify the length of clip that you would like before you drop off your dog. Myself I love nothing more than a neat short cut, many owners love the longer look.

Can you groom large dogs?  Absolutely, I regularly groom large breeds from Rotti's, Blueys, Border Collie's, Golden Retrievers, Labs etc. All these breeds can be clipped for summer and you'll be loving your clean house!

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

When I make an appointment with you it is a commitment.   My business is built on relationships with the owner and their dogs. I am 100% trustworthy with your dog and will look after them like my own and I do have a current police clearance.

I am fully insured for your peace of mind and have a fully enclosed yard with a special secure area while your dog is waiting for you to collect.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

The size of the dog is obviously the most important, secondly has your dog been groomed before.  If a dog is rarely groomed it generally takes a lot longer as they are not as conditioned to the process.  I do not mind taking the time with your dog to make it a less stressful process for them.

My pricing is extremely competitive as I work from home and don't have the same overheads as mobile or retail groomers.

Spruce Up (Bath & Towel Dry) $15  Posh Wash (Bath & Blow Dry) from $20  Classy Clean (Bath & Tidy Up)  from $40  Dapper Deluxe (Bath & Full Groom) from $60 for a small dog, $70 med  $80 large. This includes paw pads trimmed, ears cleaned and plucked, anal glands if necessary, nails trimmed  and all all over clip

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I completed a grooming course approximately 4 1/2 years ago to learn how to groom my own Westie.  Since then I have groomed my family and friends dogs which then became friends of friends.  I soon realized that this is my passion and gave up my full time job to pursue it.
