Following a career in pool drafting and design, I added to my skills at iscd; first completing Cert IV in Colour and Design, followed with diplomas in Interior Styling and then Interior Design. I won several industry awards for both residential and commercial designs.
Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?
With a background in CAD drafting and the construction industry, I understand the requirements in a job being practical as well as "pretty". I can provide CAD plans and rendered PhotoShop images so the client has a better clarification of the proposed design.
How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips
1. Have a list of likes and dislikes including colours and styles so the designer can better identify the client brief.
2. Several images of design ideas to better communicate style to the designer. (ie. magazine tear outs, Pinboard.)
3. If available, a floor plan is always useful in developing the design.
How did you decide to get into your line of work?
I have always loved the design process, and was involved in drafting from a young age. Looking to explore the creative side to technical plans, I enroled in design school to develop my skills.
