Business description

If you think good design is expensive - consider the cost of bad design - and living with it!. Duck Egg Design is an Interior Design business established in 2011, specialising in creating interiors for all budgets. I am a qualified designer since 2007 and enjoy creating interiors that feel like a home. I have worked with builders and architects from the foundations upwards through to just adding and updating a new look on a budget. I personally think a successful room is a mix textures, layers and added interest - I have a personal addiction to creating atmosphere through beautiful lighting; I shop everywhere and anywhere to select the right pieces - and can deliver a home to suit your personal style. I have been working with a variety of clients on small and large jobs, some still going after 3 years as budget allows.

Frequently asked questions

  • Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

The work guarantee is not tangible. But I do require client sign off & payment before sourcing pieces. There is a an element of trust involved, particularly as I have the vision, and that's what is generally lacking with clients; its precisely the reason they require an interior designer. But I do my best in providing the vision so the client understands the end result as much as possible. But in the end - its about gaining trust, and being able to deliver. If I dont feel as though a client and I are on the "same page" - I would prefer to walk away from the job, and refer to another designer.

  • How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I can remember when I was 5 and my mother painted our kitchen orange and brown. I remember all my mothers interior decorating moments (a bit like a scary movie) and I always had an opinion. I always looked at peoples homes, and can remember specific details like when my girlfriends mother painted their hallway pale blue from cream. My girlfriend didnt even notice the change. A career in interior design was only realised about 14 years ago, and thats when I decided to study it formally, and have a wonderful network of friends in the industry now.
