How did you decide to get into your line of work?

My artist/photographer daughter, Bel inspired me to literally ‘seize the day’ and a large part of my life changed from business travel to photographic journeys.

What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy the practice of problem-solving. Every photography assignment entails many problems of light quality, colour and direction. Every situation is slightly different. I enjoy using my knowledge, skills and experience to apply innovative solutions to new problems.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

I have ten years experience as a photographer and have won awards on three continents including best Australian photograph in the World Photography Awards; winner of the Fine Art, Landscape category of the International Photography Awards & Gold Award in the Victorian Professional Photography Awards

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Where and how will the photographs be used, if they have had photographs made in the past, what would they like to change about those, and something about the light and backdrop environment.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. Find some reference photos of the style that you are going for and send those to me. "A picture says a thousand words." 2. Check your clothing for lint and other marks which take time to remove in post-production. 3. For food photography have the food out quickly.

A butcher once told me that the most expensive cut of meat is the one that is so tough you can't eat it. So, I strive to deliver all the value of my years of formal training, experience and international awards to every job at a reasonable price.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I am a bit of a perfectionist and prefer to have the opportunity to take a second shot or third shot if I need to so I prefer shoots that permit that approach, such as portraits, team and office, corporate, food profile, product, landscape, travel and wildlife photography. I don't do weddings. :-)

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I am a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers and the Australia Institute of Company Directors. I have an Advanced Diploma of Photography and ten years experience as a photographer.
