Yes. Home & Haven has the required insurances for Public Liability and Professional Indemnity and ensures that they are annually renewed. We take great pride in our work and always like to ensure a client is happy with the final outcome.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I have a love of all things design. Originally qualified as an Urban Designer, I've also been interested in interior design and now focus on that aspect. I really enjoy creating spaces that people appreciate using and being in.

The essence of interior styling will always be about people and how they live in or use a space. It’s about the realities of what makes for a beautiful, responsive, meaningful environment. That’s the challenge – to create enduring, balanced, inspiring spaces. I love this aspect of my job.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Are they accredited? Do they have the necessary insurances for their industry? What is their experience doing other similar jobs? Do they have references? Are they able to put a quote in writing and how long is it valid for?

How much do you charge? How long will the job take? Can you assist with sourcing tradespeople that may be required?  I explain that jobs are either charged at an hourly rate or flat rate - this will be confirmed once the scope of the works is ascertained. Timing can be explained by providing a ball park figure, subject to external factors which may limit timely completion. Home & Haven has access to a range of trusted and competent tradespeople who can be appointed to a job if needs be.

Home & Haven do not overcommit or over promise when taking on a new job. Our staff are very upfront about what inclusions/exclusions there are for a project and are realistic about what can be achieved in a given timeframe. Part of our service, is to ensure that client's are regularly updated and advised if tasks change or cannot be completed due to external factors.

How large/how many spaces are there that the designer will be expected to work with. Providing floor plans is a huge help, including the opportunity to carry out an initial site visit. A specific brief detailing what the client is expecting as part of the job. Do they require the designer to source other tradespeople to assist on the job.

Do their own research first, in terms of designs they like and dislike - it provides Home and Haven a much more solid base from which to start. Be clear from the outset about what it is you'd like to achieve by getting a designer on board - expectation management is everything. Keeping an open mind when working with a designer - you can get some surprising results.

Home & Haven provides a very comprehensive service - concept design, plan layout, product sourcing, colour consulation and styling. An 'all in one' service - perfect for the indecisive or time poor client.

Depending on the scope of the project, hourly rates are ususally applied. In the instance that a design brief is comprehensive from the outset, a fixed fee can be provided.

Successfully completed a Diploma of Creative Visual Arts, specialising in Interior Styling at the International School of Colour and Design [ISCD], North Sydney. And the recipient of two 'Awards for Excellence' for the both the Foundation Course and Diploma, including an Industry Award for a bathroom design.    Experience in both residential and commercial projects and an ability to comprehensively respond to any given design brief to achieve the best possible outcome for the client/end user.
