Our business is fully insured and we guarantee our work.  If there are any issues, which to date have been extremely rare, we will do our best to correct to customer satisfaction.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Both our groomers come from advertising careers, but being serious animal lovers and finding a niche in the Bellerine market, thought a life style change would be the way to go. After 5 years in the business, neither have looked back. We have wonderful community support which reaches to the distant Geelong, Ballarat and even Bendigo. Clients travel on the ferry from the Mornington Peninsula which is a great day trip!

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Wow, we have daily wonderful stories of the happiest customers especially when there is a total transformation of a rescue dog to a stunning loveable pooch. We have many rescue dogs coming to us and this makes it a very rewarding job. Their special requirements are varied and extreme, from sensitive body regions to total fear of what is happening. We are gentle and living to their very social needs.

We love the relaxed life style and being surrounded by our furry friends......they do not boss us around or answer back!!!! We enjoy how our business has grown with over 400 clients in 5 years. We are continually growing and that is a real buzz! We love being at the top of our profession.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

The customer should request a quote after an initial appraisal. There should be an understanding of what can be achieved with the state of the coat. The customer should be confident that their dog is safe and securely restrained. The customer must feel confident that the grooming area is clean and free of fleas. Most importantly, the grooming salon should be vigilant about insisting on fully vaccinated dogs.

We are mostly asked about caging the animals which we answer that this is not an option. Also, there are often concerns with skin conditions which, on examination, we recommend the best shampoo or treatment.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

Both our groomers love dogs in all shapes snd sizes. We love our job and find each day very special with our animal friends. We only deal with a one on one connection and do not believe in caging the pooches. We have a very quick turn over of approx an hour and a half so the dogs anxiety is at the minimum.

We listen to our clients and avoid, where possible, to avoid the uncreative shave back!

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Accepted Answer

Before we can offer a quote, we need to know the breed of the dog, the age and temperament, the condition of the coat, any skin conditions such as dermatitis, special requirements such as plucking of ears. We prefer to actually see the dog, before providing an accurate assessment.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Our customers can save money by the following 3 steps 1. Wash you pup before the appointment . This cuts down the time we spend on your dog and ultimately saves the client money. 2. Try to remove as many knots on the under carriage as possible and clean up the rear area. 3. Brush the ears and tail to remove knots and any matted areas.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Accepted Answer

We keep our pricing realistic. We provide all water and power unlike the mobile groomers. We use organic shampoos and superb lasting fragrances. Bows and bandanas are supplied for the special reunion.

How do you normally charge for your service?

La Petterie has standard rates depending on the breed of your dog. We also determine the charge by an initial examination of the coat and temperament of the dog. However on the whole, a clip, bath, nail clip on a reasonable coat, comes to around $65. This  is based on an hour and a half job.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

We are particularly experienced in breed clips requiring extreme expertise with scissor cutting. We offer day care for holiday makers. We administer flea and worming treatments plus send reminders to our clients when their pooch is ready for their monthly worming.

Both our groomers have had specialist one on one training with a master groomer over 4 intensive weeks.
