  Nicky of N.B. Interiors designed a new kitchen, entertainment unit and laundry/guest room for us. The design and detailed drawings she provided meant the cabinet makers could work to a fully specified criteria without any surprises during the process. The communication and understanding we received from Nicky were unsurpassed and she had a full understanding of our budget and needs. Although our project took a little longer to start than we anticipated, Nicky was very patient and was on hand to answer any questions we had. She gave us a couple of options to choose from and provided a full mood board of ideas and colours for us to contemplate. I would recommend N.B. Interiors not only for the amazing ideas and inspiration provided but also for the friendly communication and quality of design.

  My apartment was an essentially dysfunctional studio which Nicky inventively redesigned with great insight and panache. This Potts Point bunker became a stylish one-bedroom apartment with smart, functional features and clever built-ins, allowing its original Art Deco character to shine. Nicky co-ordinated with her builder for a total demolition of walls and dilapidated ceilings, as well as the re-installation of new wiring and plumbing, throughout. The revised floorplan plan converted the old-fashioned kitchen into a sleek and beautiful bathroom. A contemporary open plan kitchen was a seamless addition to the designer mix and the use of pink-flecked Himalayan stone for the bench tops revealed Nicky's fine artistic eye and brilliant colour sense. The value of my apartment has increased enormously as a result of Nicky's renovations and my happy tenant never wants to leave.

  NB Interiors was a pleasure to work with and exhibited professionalism, originality and responsiveness to my brief in equal measure. When I initially enlisted this company, I was not myself entirely sure of the extent or scope of the works required, and although I had some ideas of my own, definitely needed guidance from someone who knew the ins and outs of a residential refurbishment. Nicky's personal warmth and communicative approach made it easier to develop the project in ways I had not envisioned and to bring a high degree of resolution to the layout, furniture selections, colour choices and decorative elements that were required. I would highly recommend this business and indeed have already referred several friends.

• How did you decide to get into your line of work?

  I've always loved architecture, art and good design, and knew from an early age that I wanted to work in these fields. Coming from an art background and training, interior design is a natural extension for me to painting, drawing and photography as the elements employed in all are essentially the same - colour, texture, line, form, proportion and light.

• What do you like most about your job?

  We love seeing how people's lives are enhanced by great design, and are always so gratified when we see that our work has helped to improve clients' quality of living in ways they could not have anticipated or imagined before. We get enormous satisfaction when clients tell us how much they love what we have done for their home.
