Pawtential has insurance and belongs to professional organisations promoting positive reinforcement training. Be wary of anyone promising a guarantee as there is absolutely no guarantee when dealing with dogs. There are too many factors determining the behaviour of your dog. Pawtential will support you for the lifetime of your dog and help to advise on any training or behavioural issues that arise.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

There are many people calling themselves by impressive titles without actually having completed any formal training. Be sure to ask what study anyone advertising as a dog trainer has. Anyone using force or intimidation causing pain or distress in your dog, is not a qualified Dog Trainer.

As a Delta qualified Dog Behavioural Trainer, I am required to participate in Furthering Education in order to maintain my membership. I attend Conferences, Seminars, read approved books and watch approved dvds in order to keep current with the most effective, most humane and safest training techniques and approach.

You will learn how to prevent problems behaviours developing, how to humanely and effectively solve any training or behavioural problem you are experiencing in your dog as well as learn how to maintain the behaviours you have taught your dog. I help to develop the relationship with your dog to it's full Pawtential! :)

How do you normally charge for your service?

Manners and Life Skills Classes at Maleny Showground involve eight lessons for $200. After this initial payment, attendance fee is $15 per lesson. A private lesson is included as one of the eight lessons.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

It is so important to start out the right way with puppies and therefore I love my work with developing puppies confidence and desired behaviours. I am also very passionate about helping those dogs that are reactive and fearful.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I am a qualified Delta Dog Behavioural Trainer with a Certificate IV which is the highest qualification in Australia for a Dog Trainer. I also have a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. I worked for 20 yrs as a Veterinary Nurse and have worked for over 25 years as a Dog Trainer and Behaviour Consultant. In order to keep my membership to professional organisations I need to attend approved Conferences and Seminars and demonstrate I use only up to date, most effective and most humane training techniques.
