How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Having 2 young children myself, I understand how fast they grow and to capture those memories on works of art is priceless.  My camera came out well before I had children, but I only really fell in love after capturing my own.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Accepted Answer

A favorite story would have to be from a maternity session.  The lady loved, LOVED her images so much, she wanted to wear a wig so we could take more images and I could use them for promotional advertising.    Another would be of a lady who took my brochures into her Pediatricians office to leave on the counter as she wanted everyone to be photographed by me!  She then emailed me to tell me what she had done.

What do you like most about your job?

I love presenting the photographs to parents of their most treasured people in beautiful artworks.  Sometimes I even get happy tears :)

I think you get a feel on the phone if the photographer is going to work for you.  If it doesn't feel right, maybe keep looking.

Why don't you do weddings?  I hear this all the time.  Truth is I love children and newborns, and prefer to work with them.

I'm a mum also, I'm also a trained special needs teacher.  I have experience with children and I am very reliable.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

A customer should hire me over other providers, because I know what i'm doing and I love it!  I have a fantastic repore with children and love Newborns. My work speaks for itself and I am continually updating my knowledge.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Typical things I ask are they ages of children or newborns. What sort of session are you looking for?  Are you just wanting prints or would you like some beautiful artwork that can then be colour co-ordinated to match your home.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Tip 1.  Have a look around the internet, magazines etc, and know which style you are after.  Tip 2.  Look the part.  If you make an effort with colours, props etc, your photos will be even more lovely and unique, and special to you and your family.  Tip 3.  Ask them if they love what they do?  If they don't love their job,  how will you know they will put their all into it for you.

Being a small business myself I understand budget needs and work within these, and still provide exceptional service.    I don't have the high overheads of a large company so I can provide great service with fantastic prices.

How do you normally charge for your service?

My prices vary depending on which session you will be choosing.   Typically a newborn session starts at $199 for images on disc, and also printed.  Included in your package is also the option of a large print 8 x 10.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I am in the process of receiving my AIPP Accrediation, I also constantly study to update my skills.  I am a member of different photography groups and love what I do.
