Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

YES, I have the necessary insurance required but the ATO as a Registered BAS Agent.  I take a lot of pride in my work but ultimatelly it is based on the information that is provided by the client.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I sort of 'fell' into this line of work from doing the books for my Husband any my business, then helping my brother with his books.  After being recommended by a friend to do the books for another business I realised there was a need so set about getting the necessary qualifications to do it properly and just love what I am doing.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

due to the nature of my work and the privacy that is expected, I can't really share any client stories other than the fact that I do what ever I can to make it easier for them to operate the part of the business that they got into business for in the first place.

What do you like most about your job?

I love numbers!  I get satiscation out of entering all the information and have it balance with the bank statement.  Most importantly I know bookwork is something that a lot of people don't like so why not help them and allow them to concerntrate on their core business.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

As a mother of 4 I have morals and standards that I expect of my kids, which I teach them by setting the example.  I have worked in the Hospitality industry for a number of years (gaming manager, Accounts Payroll and banking daily takings) when I was younger and was responsible for large amounts of money.  I take my responsibilities very serious and respect the privacy of others

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

I don't like the idea of suggesting why I should be hired over another.  I am just me, I love what I do.  I have worked hard for my business and I will work hard for yours if you choose for me to provide Bookkeeping services for you.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

I don't really need to know anything before providing a quote.  I work on an hourly basis not a set per quarter quote, I feel this works better for both parties.  However, know the frequency and estimated number of hours does help to fit the work into my schedule.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Have all of their receipts ready when I arrive. Supply bank statements for the period (sometimes this means printing a few days from the internet as a lot of financial institutions don't do bank statements from beginning to end of month. include any notes on paperwork for unusual things that may have happened

What makes your pricing competitive?

I know some charge quite a bit for bookkeeping and BAS services but I work from home or in the clients place of business / home office and don't have the overheads so am able to keep my price at a rate I am comfortable charging.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

on an hourly basis so that you only pay what is necessary for the time spent on your work.  Some quarters are busy and some are quiet, why pay the same anount if there is less work to be done!

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

Over 10 years experience with Bookkeeing and GST, Qualified BAS Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board (ATO), Member of the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians), Cert IV in Financial Services (Accounting), currently teaching MYOB at TAFE and am a MYOB Bookkeeping Partner.
