  Dr Jan Golembiewski and his assistant architect William has shown the utmost care and respect to both myself and my ideas for the project/property. Their extensive knowledge of local council's legislations and requirements has made a difficult process much less stressful and allowed me to stay ahead of the project's schedule. In terms of design, I was amazed at not only how they were able to improve my ideas but to actually execute their improvements given the heritage and size constraints. What is normally a stressful and hair-pulling process for me has actually become enjoyable thanks to Psychological Design.

  Dr Jan Golembiewski designed and supervised the construction of my house in Sydney. His passion for his work and the integrity of his disciplined and rigorous practice are only matched by the originality and sensitivity of his design. There isn't a single person who enters my house who leaves without commenting on the atmosphere - an unconscious reflection of his inspired design at work on the psyche. Most importantly, he was reliable and conscientious, ensuring that costs were kept to an absolute minimum without compromising quality whatsoever.

• Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

  We are insured, and if further insurance is required, our broker is only a phone-call away. But architects are not tradespeople so guarantees are meaningless. More importantly, we work with clients so they are aware of what they're getting every step of the way.

• How did you decide to get into your line of work?

  I've loved architecture since I was a boy and had to help build my own hut in the jungle of PNG. Since then, well before I went to university, as a child (14-16 years old) I used to go and visit one of Australia's greatest master architects (Peter Muller OA) every couple of weeks to learn from him.
