How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Growing up I wanted to be a veterinarian, but realised I couldn't deal with death. In 2004 I got a Maltese cross Pomeranian, Gizmo, she needed regular grooming so I decided to do a grooming course, from there I groomed friends dogs and attended regular grooming training seminars to better my skills.

I have too many favourites to choose a favourite. These people have become like family to me, I just adore them and their pets.

What do you like most about your job?

Everything! I seriously have the best job in the world. As a child I wanted to be a vet, but as I got older I realised I couldn't deal with death so this was the next best thing. I am still able to help animals and offer my customers advice regularly. I have formed amazing bonds with my clients.

Are you a franchise? No, I built this business up from scratch back in 2011, it is my pride and joy. Do you sedate cats to groom them? No, definitely not.  Do you cut nails? Yes, its a part of every single groom.

I thoroughly enjoy my job so much that's its almost like its not a job, I have been doing this so long now that a lot of my customers have given me keys to their homes so I can access their pets when they are at work.

You are guaranteed a great groom, as well as we like to do a little extra by taking a gorgeous photo of your pet afterwards with our gorgeous backdrops. Customers love these photos and always head over to our Facebook page after their pets groom to see their photo.

What breed is the dog or cat? What size are they? How long is their coat? Are they matted or knotty?

Brush your pet regularly. Get your pet use to grooming by starting the grooming process when they are a young puppy. Don't attempt to shave your pet yourself - this often ends up in the pet being terrified of the whole grooming process.

I do not strive to be the cheapest groomer in town, I strive to be the best groomer in town.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Each groom is charged according to the animals size, temperament, coat condition ect. For example, a dog that is brushed regularly by its owner and knot free would be significantly less than a dog that is not brushed at all, matted to the skin and aggressive.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I am one of very few pet stylists that grooms cats, I also thoroughly enjoy brushing out double coated dogs like Samoyeds and Chow Chows. There is no better feeling than getting out all their undercoat!
