How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I have always been surrounded by photography, growing up with a brother who spent most of his time in the darkroom developing film. I worked in the creative industry for most of my life. At the age of 40, I finally picked up a professional camera and have never looked back. That was 7 years ago.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

My favorite client so far in my career would be Annalise Braakensiek. Every job with Annalise was not like a job. We worked at amazing locations and laughed uncontrollably often. Such a joy to be around and such a gorgeous lady.

What do you like most about your job?

I love that you can't be anywhere but in the moment. I also love creating a connection with my subject. It's so important to me that they enjoy the experience. It's all about that memory flash of the shoot when looking at the image soon after or in years to come.

Depending on the needs of the client, I would make sure that the photographer has experience in photographing the specific genre the client is wanting. Ask to show examples of their work showing this, if not already displayed here on One Flare or on their website.

Q: Will you direct me, I don't know what to do.  A: Yes absolutely, all I need you to do is be yourself and have fun. I'll direct you through the entire process.

I know my craft well and hope to create a genuine connection between myself and my client.  Feeling comfortable to be yourself in front of the camera makes an even more relaxed and enjoyable experience.

My aim is to capture a series of captivating images with a versatile range of different perspectives, and most important, expression to engage the audience. My experience in directing helps my client or clients to become relaxed and of course, ENJOY!

How many outfit changes or looks the customer may want to capture How many different setups  How many people there will be to photograph  The style of the shoot whether it be profile images for acting or a family shoot with a child.

Be sure of what you want, and if you don't know exactly, we can discuss it during your free phone consultation. It's really fun to explore different ideas and we can do this by emailing screenshots or Pinterest boards, whatever you like, to come up with exciting concepts. This is all a part of my service.

I like to be reasonable and want everyone to feel comfortable with the budget. I'm happy to discuss this on the phone or via email.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Half-day or a full day.  $450 or $750 which can vary. I like to have a solid brief outline of the job before committing to a price.   Variables are -  How many different setups - this can affect the amount of after-hours work such as editing.  How many edited images.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I love working with natural light and specialize in a wide range of portraiture.  I like to bring out the best in everyone no matter what I'm shooting, I love it all.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

After years of working in the creative industry, I have gained experience in knowing what makes a great picture. I find that a clear vision of all elements is key. So not just clicking away. I like to think of myself as a bit of an all-rounder.   I studied with Matt Kemp advanced photography and Lightroom courses focusing on in-depth photography training, creative use of available light, colour theory, and exposure techniques.
