The job was to replace about 8 bricks that a plumber had to break out and remove to fix a leak in a water pipe behind a corner wall very low down. I bought 10 bricks and 2 were left over. The job was completed. Instead of cutting a brick to fit a particular section he filled the hole with mortar. He did quote me $300 without seeing the work needed, it was a Saturday morning, however he arrived promptly at 10.30 as agreed and left at 11.20. Over $300 an hour.17 Jun 2015
I filled with mortar as toothing it out to fit half a brick would've cracked the second, third and fourth bricks. They're called a one tap crack brick. The job was behind vertical and horizontal pipe work, very difficult to work around. The quote of $300 included sand, cement and use of grinder for cuts. I also came in $200 under your first quote. The bricks didn't match the house and you told me you just wanted the whole filled, which I did best that could be done for such a location and difficulty. I also left the site clean and tidy.
