I have professional liability insurance.  I always work to satisfy my customers and when this cannot be done I would be happy to negotiate either a significantly reduced priced or no fee, depending on the circumstances.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I wanted work that combined high levels of creativity and strategic problem solving - I love using both sides of my brain! Over time I found what I enjoyed most was solving other people's marketing problems so I created my own agency. I combined my passion for social responsibility and sustainability to make it unique and even more fun for me!

I love de-mystifying marketing and helping people tap into their inner marketer. Everyone is actually a marketer - we just get lost in the jargon and technicality sometimes. For small business owners and those in the not for profit sector, there is nothing more powerful than finding your own inner marketer and applying that style of thinking to all of your work rather than it being a completely separate function.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Ask about their values - make sure they are a good match to your business. (eg if you are all about quality service and your marketing consultant is totally focused on high-turnover transactional tactics you won't enjoy the work).  Ask for an outline of how they would approach your project and see if it fits well with the way you do business.  Ask a few 'dumb' questions and see if they explain things in a way that empowers your decision making or if it is all jargon - or worse still, no explanation!

I get asked about social media all the time! Mostly people want to know "does it really work or is it a waste of time?" My answer is that it depends what you are trying to achieve with it! I also tell them to start with the customer not the tool (ie don't write a Facebook strategy - write a communications strategy for your customers and if it reveals they are on Facebook and want to talk to you there, include it!)

My integrity is everything to me. I live a values-based life and bring that into my business. I would rather lose a potential customer than tell them I could do something I couldn't. Reputation and brand are the same thing in this business - I wouldn't risk mine!

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

To save before buying: 1. Get a good idea of where your business is at right now - who are your customers, how many customers do you have, what are they buying etc 2. Have clear strategic goals for your business - and quantify them! (eg. we want to increase profit 5% next year) 3. Know your budget. Don't worry how small it is - know how much you are willing to invest and be up front about it. If I can do it cheaper than that, I will regardless of what your budget is.

Projects are priced based on complexity, value to the business and urgency. Projects conducted over longer periods or in non-peak periods can be provided with a discount.
