Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I have Professional Indemnity Insurance and Business Insurance covering normal business risks. I guarantee my work; my aim is to each task once and do it properly; if I do make a mistake I correct it.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I do not recall ever deciding to enter accounting. With my package of talents it simply happened that way. I have never regretted it.

Every accounting job I do gives me satisfaction when it is completed. The most pleasurable jobs are those where I have sorted out a set of accounts which were a mess before I started.

I enjoy it ! Accounting is a branch of mathematics, my favourite subject in high school. I also enjoy working with computers.

A client should ask the following of a professional: What are your qualifications? Are you competent? Can you be trusted? How much experience to you have?

The most common question is "How much profit have I made".  If data entry is complete I can produce a Profit Statement.   Other questions cover product or service costing, advice on many topics which can only be answered by careful calculations or investigation.

I am a person of good character, attested by many references.  I am honest with my clients to the point of sometimes giving unpalatable advice.

I have had over 50 years experience in bookkeeping and accounting.  Experience includes accounting, bookkeeping, costing, credit control, management accounting, financial accounting, payroll, reconciliations, banking.

Before quoting I need to know: The level of business activity The type of business The legal structure Sufficient information to determine genuine ID.

A client can save money (my fees) by the following: Organising the data (paper work) before I arrive, Answering queries clearly and promptly Do not alter my entries after I have finished.

I do not practise gimmicks or special offers.  However, I do offer a free consultation at a prospective client's premises for the purpose of surveying the client's current system and needs.

My standard charge is $45 per hour subject to negotiation.  I do not charge travelling time.  On every job I do I aim to be efficient, taking each step in a logical sequence.

My usual practice is to charge at the completion of a job or cycle.  If the process is long I may ask for a progress payment.  I render a tax invoice.

No.  Accounting principles can be applied to any business.  Businesses I have worked in include food manufacturer, textile manufacturer, metal fabricator, insolvency, motor dealership and operating my own business.
