Yes we have a valid Professional Indemnity Insurance policy and Public Liability Insurance, which is renewed every year. As we provide architectural services, we cannot guarantee our work as such. We do have good reputation with all councils within Sydney Region.

Passion to contribute to the Built Environment made me enrol for the course of architecture. After graduating, it was the ability to provide a holistic solution to the clients that has got me here today.

Proposed extension and alteration to an existing residence at 11 Jenkins Street, Chatswood  This site offered us various challenging elements such as steep slope, retention of existing period character of the dwelling from the front and the corner and blending the proposed modern extension and creating an indoor outdoor relationship from the new living/family area.  Design & Cost– In order to fit the project within the range of $250k to $300k, it was important to leave the existing roof untouched. We worked out a clever and innovative solution of new roof and resolved the detail of the junction of the old and new roof so that a neat and clean finish is achieved inside the house.  The other hurdle was the overshadowing to the southern neighbours. The proposed roof maintains the existing sunlight to the adjoining southern neighbour. This was clearly demonstrated through shadow anlaysis which is generally not required for single storey dwellings.  There were other challenges offered in relation to the construction methodology and materials. The construction methodology was partly resolved at the design stage and later on during the tendering stage when builders came back with quotes. Generally, this is typical way the complicated sites get handled unless a builder has been finalised right at the beginning.  Time – The design and documentation time was approximately 6 months. In this project the client had actively participated in selecting the colours for the external walls, the tiles, the floor finishes, etc. We went through 2 to 3 concept design options which helped the client to make an informed decision  Council matters – Due to nature of the site and its corner location, it was difficult to comply with all the Council regulations and still design a sensible and feasible extension. As an urban designer, Nilesh identified council guidelines that could be varied with strong design based justification.  We designed the extension in such a way that it exceeded the expectations of the core objectives of the Council’s LEP and DCP and thus achieved a win – win solution for the client and the council.

We charge hourly as well as lump sum depending on the tasks involved and the scope of works. Some minor or small consultancy is typically based on hourly rate while a full scope of works of design and preparation of DA package is charged as lump sum fee.
