How did you decide to get into your line of work?

My sister bought me my first computer, the ZX Spectrum, when I was 13. Back in those days, you had a nice variety of computer systems to choose from. The Commodore VIC 20, Commodore 64, the Atari, the Amiga, the Apple II, the Apple MacIntosh,  theTexas Instruments, and of course, the IBM PC and Compatibles. There was even the Dick Smith Wizard computer! I played with my computer every single day without fail, unless I was on holidays. I was always practising programming and hoped to write my own game one day. It was natural that I ended up working in the IT industry.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

In the first company I worked for, I had an internal customer who rang up and said he couldn't turn his monitor on. I told him to check that the power cable was plugged in to this monitor. He checked and said it was plugged in. When I went to his office, I traced the power cable to the power outlet. He had not turned the power switch on.

They often ask me "how do I know so much about computers". I always answer "because I have played with them since I was 13. I don't know how to do anything else though."

I love working with computers and like talking to clients. If you can take my word for it, I would say it's in my nature to be reliable and trustworthy.

In my past roles in the IT industry, I had a reputation for outstanding work ethic and attention to detail and getting things done, and outstanding customer service.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Accepted Answer

Customers need to provide as much detail as they can in the problem description. Sometimes it's a standard problem that we see regularly and we can quote on it, but sometimes it will require us to speak to the customer to get more information which is dependent on what the issue is.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

If the rate charged is per hour and not fixed, then 3 ways to save money are : 1.  Clear the area where the computer is so the technician can get access to the computer quickly 2. Let the technician know if the issue happened after a change was made, so it makes it easier to troubleshoot 3. If enough information was given to the technician before he attends the job, then he may already know how to approach the problem by the time he gets there.

We always quote lower than what we would normally charge when we are bidding on OneFlare. So in a way, we have a special offer all of the time to OneFlare customers.

What makes your pricing competitive?

I am charging lower than market rate but at the same time offering the same or better quality of service. I am fully qualified and very experienced in the IT industry.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Because the jobs that we will get through OneFlare will be adhoc we would prefer to charge in cash.  If you require to be invoiced, let us know. We currently do not accept credit card or cheque.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

While we do desktop support for Windows computers for individuals and small businesses, we also support the bigger businesses as we specialise in the technologies used by these bigger businesses such as Windows Servers and networking. We are now moving into the area of Cloud Computing such as migrating current businesses to Office 365 and creating virtual data centres for businesses who choose to move their server infrastructure to the cloud, especially Amazon Web Services.

In the last 5 years prior to coming back to Sirisoft again, I was the IT Infrastructure Manager at RITEQ Pty Ltd. RITEQ is the leading Workforce Management software company in Australia. I managed a small team of dedicated staff looking after RITEQ's internal IT and external client IT infrastructure.  My recent IT qualifications are: MCITP SQL 2008 MCSA in Windows Server
