I have professional indemnity insurance. A requirement for all licensed building designers in Queensland. I stand by my work and will make the required reasonable design changes to achieve approval. Once the design has been approved my role is complete, however your builder can call me anytime.

What do you like most about your job?

I love creating new livable spaces from old dated places. Seeing an old building reconfigured or repurposed to become a wonderful family home. Designing new home from an empty site, working with the terrain and setting to get the most for the clients budget.

- Does your building design specialise in residential design? - Is your building designer licensed and insured? - Can your building design / drafting service provide examples of design and drafting documentation.

Can I provide a quote over the phone? Simple answer is no. No two home extensions or renovation projects are the same. I need to see the site and what factors might influence the design. I can then estimate my time and prepare a quotation.

I have the knowledge and experience to achieve results. My goal has always been to serve the client and ensure that they are getting a design that suits their requirements.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

We provide free quotations and can often discuss your project in detail over FaceTime or Skype. Our quotations are fixed fee, we discuss the design and take the time to get the design right before moving forward with working drawings.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

- Where is your site and who is your local authority (Council)? - What is it that you want to achieve out of your design?. ie Number of bedrooms, living spaces etc. - Do you have any existing building plans?

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

- Spend time to review the designs and make the changes before you get to site. - Walk through the design in a 3D interactive environment and get a feel for the space and flow of the design. - Lock in the design before the documentation stage. Changes during construction cost money.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Accepted Answer

I don't go seeking to be the most expensive building designer in the business. I aim to provide a fair priced service and giving great value for money. I won't be the cheapest, however you do certainly get your moneys worth you will receive building plans that are thought out and usable.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

I provide fixed fee quotations based on the time requirement estimated for each job. I do not quote on percentages and remain fair when post design changes are required.  My quotations are split into stages. The 1st stage is for the design, The 2nd stage is for the documentation.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I mostly focus on residential design. New homes, House extensions and renovations, from small decks through to large projects, I can assist you. I can to commercial works however residential design is my main focus.

With nearly 30 years in the business we have a vast experience of construction types and methods, I can talk to you with the knowledge required to alter a new building or look at novel approaches to new constructions. I am a QBCC licensed building designer, a legal requirement for QLD trades.
