  Dishonest - Avoid at all costs We contacted this tradesman (as our regular service person was on holidays) as the hot water was not working in our rental property. He quoted his prices to my wife over the phone , and she duly wrote the amounts down and relayed them to me by phone immediately she had finished speaking with the person. He turned up at the property the next morning and was met by our tenant . She said that he took a quick look at the heating system, shook the gas bottles, told her that the problem was that the gas cylinders were empty, and went to leave immediately. As the tenant had Origin Energy around earlier, and they had advised her that one of the gas tanks was still one quarter full, she asked the tradesperson to check whether there was another issue. He then advised her that the gas regulator must be leaking, and proceeded to install a new gas regulator at a charge of $200. The tenant advised me subsequently that the total amount of time spent by the tradesperson at the property was 30-35 minutes . Later that day we received the invoice from the tradesperson, which included a labour charge for what appeared to be two hours, as it was twice the amount that he had quoted my wife per hour on the phone. I initially queried why he had charged us for two hours labour when he had only been at the property approximately a half an hour, to which he had replied that he had billed us for 45 minutes to do the job, and 15 minutes to send the invoice. When I replied that he had quoted half the amount that he had billed for labour on the phone, he threatened that I either pay the full amount or he would send it to debt collectors. I had paid the exact amount that he had quoted my wife over the phone , but he has continued to hound us for the extra money he says we owe him, now resorting to calls and letters from a debt collection agency . If you want a service that leaves you feeling totally ripped off , then by all means use Anstey Enterprises t/a Bayside Gas Services.

  David was very helpful on the phone and it was clear he knew what he was talking about which prompted us to use his services. He turned up on time, fixed the problem with the cooktop as quoted, and cleaned up afterwards! Would recommend this business to anyone.
