Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

We are a fully insured business with 10 million public liability insurance as we have to be fully insured to work on council property to do crossovers and footpaths out the front of our clients houses, we also organize the council permit fee and plan on behalf of our clients and lodge it with council for you.  We do provide a written certificate of Guarantee for every concrete job that we do.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I was a salesman for the first 5 years of my life and decided to get out as many sales people are all just talk and dishonest and after selling some real estate i had seen what some agents do to people and it made me not wont to work in an industry full of cheap talking crooks. I ended up becoming a concreter doing an honest days work but after what i have now seen in this industry there are crooks liars and cheats doing an honest days work but ripping off their clients with cheap building materials and workmanship.  Now i look back and realize there is more cooks and crims in this industry than than the previous ones I worked in lol.  Its a Tuff game because of priced based quoting that pushes people to have to try and survive and compete with contractors that win the most quotes and make the most money providing illegal building materials just to lower their expenses and it makes it real hard for the honest tradies that do their job right.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

The best customer story I have which i do have a few would be after doing almost $50,000 worth of concrete for a client and pouring concrete around their pool then i randomly rocked up to their pool party and they were happy to have me their. I stayed until the party was over and became friends with the clients still to this day. I woke up with a hang over but had a awesome time. I don't know why but after doing repeat business with clients you get to know them become friends with many of them over the years.

What do you like most about your job?

The best thing about my job is it is a life style business and I can go to work when i want or put out extra advertising and do more work if i"m saving up for something. Its the freedom to do what i want and when i want and most of the time i price my quotes down a bit because i like to work for clients i can see myself getting along with.

Can you the concrete contractor provide a written guarantee. can you provide us the client a copy of the concrete dockets to prove you have ordered the right amount of concrete and the right strength. Do you use 2 coats of concrete sealer. Do you use plastic bar-chairs to hold up the concrete mesh or do you lift it. (it never get lifted right)

Most clients ask us the difference in pricing for different decorative concrete finishes. I would say based on an average that plain grey concrete is the cheapest then coloured concrete is around 20% more and exposed aggregate, stencil and slate impression would be between 20-30% more than coloured concrete.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

We are clearly the most trustworthy contractor in the area for the job as we guarantee our concrete volumes and show our clients a copy of the concrete dockets so they know they have received the right strength of concrete and cubic meter volume. Many concrete contractors will talk the talk but less than 99% of clients ever get to see the concrete dockets which is why 95% of decorative jobs that are done are done in a low strength concrete which is not up to building spec. We average 110mm of concrete depth across all our jobs because we work to a minimum of 100mm and have to provide our clients the proof of this as our Guarantee documents stipulate which I personally sign and date for each one of my clients. we use a minimum of 25mpa for all our domestic slabs such as driveways and around house. We also use Plastic bar-chairs to hold up the concrete mesh as most guys do not and do 2 coats of concrete sealer for all decorative concrete not one coat. We put each of our policy and procedures on a simple to understand checklist and sign off on a legal binding contract that Guarantees we will work to the minimum Australian building regulation specifications.  you the client do not have to even trust us because you the client holds the contract that legally binds us to do the job to these minimum requirements which less than 95% of concrete contractors work to.

We are the only concrete contractors in Sunbury and surrounding areas that provide our clients with a fully detailed Certificate of Guarantee.  This actually makes us less profit because we provide some of the highest building materials on the market.  This also helps us provide our clients with a good service and helps us win more jobs by providing quality like high strength concrete unlike 95% of decorative concrete jobs that are done in a low strength concrete.

The best thing for us to know before we quote your job: 1:  The area you want concreted like driveway or shed slab 2;  What type of concrete you want so we can bring the relevant paperwork like guarantee documents and colour charts. 3:  When you are ready to go ahead so we know if or when we can fit you in.

The best way a client can save money is by: 1:  preparing the job them self by boxing it up.  2:  painting the concrete sealer on them self 3:  even getting a bobcat to dig it out and have the crushed rock base down.

We can provide a discount if you can show us your other written quotes, we may be able to match them or beat them if no written quote is provided then  we do not provide any discounts but if your a good bloke i will be too and try even harder to do your job the best i can. In many situations if we like the clients we work for we will do other small things for free that are not listed in the quote. even things like leaving behind spare sealer for touch ups or even help out if we got a bobcat on site to do something around the house that wont take us too long to do. even upgrades from plastic pit lids to galv top or stainless steal.  If your a pensioner lets us know and we will see what we can do for you.

What makes your pricing competitive?

I am always the first to say that our pricing is not always competitive in comparison to other concrete contractors. This is because the materials and labour for concrete is around 80% of the cost so anyone that comes in with their price being cheap or competitive is giving the client the wrong type of building materials they may be 10% cheaper but they are still making their 20% gross profit by providing things like cheap granite or recycled crushed rock that is 40% cheaper, Low strength concrete which 95% of concreters use for decorative which is not in the building code and which is why you see so many cracks in peoples driveways. Less than 100mm of concrete depth and finished with one coat of cheap concrete sealer not 2, low strength concrete mesh, no bar chairs.  I  could go on all day about the 15 scams people push contractors to do by by choosing the cheapest quotes and why the client ends up with a concrete slab 50% less strength 90% of the time but clients just want a cheap price not a certificate of guarantee. You will get what you pay for when you use us but you will have to pay for the building materials. it only works out to be around 10% more than the average quote but we make sure your job will be 100% up to Australian building regulation specifications and we provide you all the documented proof that you receive the quality materials you should be getting anyway.

How do you normally charge for your service?

We custom do each quote specific to each job as all jobs are different from each other, we also provide fixed price quotations that are done on the spot that also comes with a certificate of guarantee specific to your job. We never do a square meter rate as this is the worst way any concreter can work out any price its like taking a guess and hoping you get the price right, any contractor that does this finds them self having to provide less concrete and cheap materials to be able to still make a profit when they find their expenses on the job has blown out.

We Specialize In Decorative Concrete Finishes However do have experience in Commercial Industrial and House Slabs. We mainly like to target large driveways and roundabouts, unit complexes and big decorative pours however we mainly do the average size jobs as this makes up most of our work flow.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

We have been concreting since 2008 so we are an established concrete business. We have developed skills like machine troweling exposed aggregate, slate impression, plane concrete and coloured concrete. Our exposed aggregate finishes done this way are far better than hand finishing concrete and minimizes concrete defects.  Still to this day we have never met or heard of other decorative concreters using this advanced technology as this new type of machine was imported from over seas and no one else we know has one.
