Accepted Answer

I am an 'Insured Business', and I do guarantee my work!  Further to that, I think my extensive list of 'Testimonials' speaks volumes about my work ethic and outcomes.  I have 'Public Liability' Insurance, 'Care, Custody and Control' Insurance, and 'Professional Indemnity' Insurance.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I was asked to do the Eulogy at a best mate's funeral service and, later that evening, his wife told me that the Celebrant wanted me to call him ... so I did.  He asked me what I did for a living, and would I meet him? After we met, and spoke for some hours, he said, "You were born to do this."

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Accepted Answer

At a rehearsal, the bride asked about any funny anecdotes I had.  I told them about introducing a previous best man to a bridesmaid, who hadn't met, in the midst of performing a wedding ceremony (and handing over my card), and then having the bridesmaid book me, 12 months later, to book me for her forthcoming wedding ... to that same 'best man'!!

Assisting couples in creating a wedding ceremony that reflects the unique people that they are, and helping to make their special day extra special, by skilfully crafting a ceremony that is based on their personalities and backgrounds, whilst celebrating and highlighting their individual journey.

They might seek information from numerous celebrants and ask all of them: •	What training have you had? •	How long have you been a celebrant? •	What is your background? •	What does your fee cover? •	What can you offer us and, why should we choose you?

My advertised logo ... 'When ‘experience’ counts!' Whilst not being qualified to comment on my competitor's work practices, generally speaking, your reputation is based, largely, on your 'history' with previous clients, which is judged, as the question asks, on your reliability and trustworthiness.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

In a word, 'experience'!  With over 45 years of experience, I am one of Australia's most experienced professional performers / presenters / speakers / MCs, working in Celebrancy. I have performed  in excess of 600 weddings, and over 250 funerals, and regularly MC my client's Wedding Receptions .

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

My quote is purely based on 'location' of service, so  all I need to know is, 'where is the Wedding Ceremony going to take place?'

In the 'Celebrancy Industry', sadly, there are no real areas or functions that can be cut back or minimized, in order to reduce costs to the client; the overall job is still the job, and the work still has to be performed.

I'm sorry, but, given that I have no idea where I may have to travel to, to perform a wedding ceremony, I therefore have no idea of knowing if I could actually 'make a profit' or not, by offering a specific offer.

I can't honestly answer the question because, I have no idea what my competitors charge and, I have absolutely no interest in knowing.  When you book me to be your celebrant, you are hiring the sum total of all of my professional experience, along with my extensive training.

How do you normally charge for your service?

I charge a flat fee, within 100 kilometres of my base, with a nominal 'travel cost' beyond that, which I quote at the point of first contact.
