Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?
We specialise in home and small business electrical maintenance. We also design and build remote switching systems for garden lighting and other applications where remote controlled switching can be advantageous.
How do you normally charge for your service?
We offer fixed price quotations or charge by the hour depending on the circumstances. We have a minimum call fee of $180.00 plus GST which gives the customer up to an hours labour.
What makes your pricing competitive?
We are realistic, professional contractors and offer great value for the services we deliver. Our experience and work ethic makes us a great choice. The fact that we have so many repeat customers proves to us that we offer great value for money.
How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips
Do your own research on products and features. There is so much information on the Internet for everything . Ask about fittings and hardware. We strongly recommend using quality name brands where ever possible. We see many recalls these days for product that does not conform to Australian standards. It is also a great practice to plan what you want and even do a drawing or sketch to ensure no work has to be re-done.
What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?
We need to look at the job on site to properly assess what is involved, under floor and roof access etc. We need to know about time frames and job scheduling. We like to discuss and even offer suggestions that may result in a better outcome.
Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?
Yes we carry full public risk insurance and all vehicles are insured. We fully guarantee all of our work and always supply a CERTIFICATE OF ELECTRICAL SAFETY where required.
What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?
We operate with diligence and integrity. Our reputation is very important to us. We want our customers to recommend us to their family and friends. We want them to call us back !
What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?
With regard to electrical work, the customer should always ask to see the contractors licence and his / her individual A grade licence. They should also check to ensure the contractor carries current public risk insurance. The customer may also ask for some job references. And ensure a Certificate of Electrical safety is provided where required.
What do you like most about your job?
I love my job ! I always have. I really enjoy the interaction with clients and always aim to exceed their expectations in all areas. We get an enormous variety of work. Always interesting, sometimes challenging, but very rewarding when all parties are satisfied at the end of a job.
Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Oneflare customers?
With any job booked we include a free Home safety Inspection and you will receive a Certificate of Home Safety Report which is an approved form published by Energysafe Victoria.
What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?
These days many customers ask about LED lighting. There is a lot of misinformation out there. We can explain exactly what you get with advertised free installations and we can explain the regulations and the legal requirements for LED upgrades. Cheapest is not always the right choice.
How did you decide to get into your line of work?
I was all prepared to embark on an Electrical Engineering degree at Swinburne. My father was a civil engineer, spent his hard earned on a good education for myself and two sisters. I presumed he wanted me to pursue tertiary studies. Then he asked .... what about an electrical apprenticeship ? The rest is history , and i love my job !
