Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I am a member of The Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants and have insurance through them with Acerta.  As a Commonwealth Authorized Marriage Celebrant, I am obliged to abide by a code of conduct.  If I breach that code, you are entitled to make a complaint to the Attorney General's Department.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

When I got into celebrancy, it seemed to me to be a natural extension of the roles I was already doing in other aspects of my working life.  I felt it was a public service that I was well qualified to perform and was able to do alongside all my other pursuits.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Several of my clients have remained in contact over the years asking for further services or advice and to refer me to their friends and family. It is always a pleasure to hear from them again and catch up with how their lives are progressing.

What do you like most about your job?

As a people person, I get a lot of joy and satisfaction from being able to help facilitate meaningful ceremonies that mark some of the most significant events my clients' lives. It is a great privilege to be a part of these wonderful occasions.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Ask a potential celebrant to detail exactly what their service covers prior/during and after the ceremony, how accessible will they be during the planning period, how and when is the fee is to be paid, what is the cancellation policy,  what happens with the paperwork.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

Accepted Answer

Clients ask what legal steps they need to take in order to get married. They are to lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage with their celebrant and provide the following documents original birth certificate or passport, proof of identity and evidence of a party's divorce or death of spouse.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

I have performed many and varied ceremonies over the years, all without complaint.  I have current Police and Working With Children checks through my Victorian Institute of Teaching registration which deems me to be reliable and trustworthy.

As an experienced celebrant, I have performed a wide range of ceremonies for diverse clients in many interesting locations.  The types of ceremonies I focus on are Marriages, Funerals, Namings, Renewals and Commitments though I am open to help create ceremonies for other important milestones in life.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

1.Date, time and location. 2. Other professionals I may need to liaise with 3.The style of ceremony required 4.Will I need to write a ceremony from scratch or are you happy to personalize a pre-written ceremony 5.Do I need to write any letters to immigration authorities.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. Have a ceremony date and time locked in - later changes might mean your celebrant is unavailable 2. Have your location confirmed and, if outdoors, check that you have permission to use the area. 3. Have a clear idea of your ideal ceremony, those involved and book them (friends and professionals).

Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Oneflare customers?

I offer a 10% reduction of my $550 fee for the creation and delivery of a ceremony tailored to reflect the unique client personalities and circumstances. This would include all the necessary contact (email, phone and face to face) required to ensure that the ceremony is perfected.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Accepted Answer

I ensure that my basic fee of $350 for a simple wedding ceremony is affordable to everybody but I allow for clients to upgrade their ceremonies for an additional cost, if the simplest ceremony offered does not match their specific desires.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

The minimum charge for a very simple, uncomplicated ceremony of any kind is $350 to remunerate me for my time and expertise. If clients have very specific additional requirements that require extra time and resources, there would be a higher charge specified prior to booking.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I focus on Marriage, Funeral, Naming, Renewal and Commitment ceremonies.  I love the creative process of writing and performing ceremonies that have been specifically devised to reflect a particular client's unique needs.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have a Certificate IV in Celebrancy and am a Commonwealth Authorized Marriage Celebrant.  I have worked closely with others the whole of my working life through Teaching, Life Coaching and Theatre.  The skills I have acquired through these disciplines have been very beneficial in Celebrancy.
