I believe that we should do for a living what we enjoy doing, and for me, that’s exactly accounting, and everything that belongs to it–taxes, laws, etc. That’s the main reason why I decided on this profession. I enjoy working with data and feel that analytical skills and attention to detail are my greatest strengths.

One morning, after completing the parkrun with some friends from the athletics club, we went to enjoy breakfast. One of my clients was at one of the tables in the restaurant, with his wife. I didn't see him. When I made my choice, the best cronut in the world, the waitress told me that unfortunately the last one had been served to the gentleman at the table, indicating with her eyes to my customer. Oh! it's fine.- I said and got up to greet him. My surprise was that he got up, came to my table, leaving the cronut in front of me, and looking at my friends, said: "Here it is. This man takes care of my business, is always available to respond to my demands, he's involving himself 100%. So, I have to take care of him. If it's good for you, it's good for me. " Everyone laughed and I felt for a moment that this was the best "review" that anyone had done for me. So accept it. Never has a cronut had that wonderful taste.

1-What type of business do I have? What is Personal Services Income (PSI)? Many people take an Australian Business Number (ABN) to make a few extra dollars in addition to their employee pay, especially labourers and tradies. But there are rules around how your income is treated and what you can claim for tax deductions.  Personal services income (PSI) is income produced, mainly from your personal skills or efforts as an individual.  If more than 50% of the income received for a contract/invoice was for your labour, skills or expertise, then all income received is PSI.  2-Will I need to register for GST? This is an important question as it will  -impact your selling price -your ongoing costs for the preparation and reporting of your Business Activity Statements (BAS) to the Australian Taxation Office -paying GST owed.  3-What personal expenses can I claim in my business? Sometimes a draw card to owning a business is being able to claim personal expenses such as a motor vehicle or gym fees and equipment as a ‘business expense’. But the reality is you can’t claim personal expenses. In many cases you will need to justify them as a legitimate business or work expense to claim all or part of the expense as a deduction.  Some purchases you cannot claim the whole costs irrespective of the business use, such as on a luxury motor vehicle. There is the possible issue that having your business pay for personal expenses will incur Fringe Benefits Tax.
