Dmt  coastal plumbing as a business and all of my staff are insured in full and we do guarantee or work as is required by law, on our written quotes and invoice are our license details which is not valid unless we are insured

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I started a long time ago working with a family friend whilst on holidays from school,  getting paid was nice but realised i enjoyed the work as well, i completed high school and went straight to work.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Customer had a blocked drain in back yard on christmas eve night with 75 people coming for lunch the next day to sit in the back yard, i went out to clear the drain for her,  she called back saying how grateful she was and her guests from over seas couldn't believe anyone would do that on Christmas eve night she said i made her Christmas,  it was nice to make sure a little effort from me made such a positive impact on another family's Christmas.

What do you like most about your job?

I really enjoy seeing the enjoyment on a customers face when everything is done and they are in the brand new bathroom kitchen etc. Sometimes it's forced on people a bust hot water unit at an in opportune time is not enjoyable but already the customer knows they have a job done well that meets all legal requirements and is working as it should.

Important to ask if plumbers doing the job are licensed i.e. not sending the apprentice to do the job on his own,  confirm there will be know hidden surprises at invoice time and if unsure ask for that guarantee in writing

Is it OK to buy fixtures from the internet (taps,vanitys etc) ,the answer is yes but buyer beware, if faulty hard to take back and could cost you more in delays ,unreturnable items having to be replaced.  I recommend to always buy from a reputable plumbing suppliers.

I personally have been in business for 20 years with minimal advertising and the vast majority of my work has come from word of mouth, dmt coastal plumbing had been growing in size due to the demand for my services and this can only happen if previous clients feel I'm trustworthy and reliable

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

We need to know your goals for the project undertaking, clearing a blocked drain or finding the cause of the blockage in the first place,  renovating bathroom to have new fixtures or improve lay out, details are important for us to provide the service you require.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Accepted Answer

I always recommend customers to do a few things to save them money and some times more importantly heart ache,  these being do your research into what your trying to achieve, e.g. bathroom renovation the position of fixtures is essential and can be the difference between a bathroom being great and only OK,  if you choose a1200mm long vanity will that impact on the size of your shower or leave room for towel rails etc.  Get at least 2 quotes and if they are vastly different get a third quote then i recommend you go with the company you are happy to work with and is offering a service you would expect for the $they are charging.   There is a very good reason why some items can be very cheap at a large multipurpose store and more expensive at a specialist store they may look the same but the quality is vastly different,  getting a plumber to come back to service taps or toilets can be an expensive cost a lot more expensive than the initial outlay if you had purchased a better quality product over the cheaper version.

As with all customers we provide a guarantee of the price agreed upon at the start of the job will be the price invoiced at the end of the job, no work will begin until you are satisfied with what the end cost will be

The hourly rate is more than competitive but you combine that with the service provided and the lengths my team and i will go to solve any issues you have and we leave other plumbing firms a long way behind.

We accept cheque, bank transfer, cash, eftpos transactions are also available with a 2 percent surcharge, i will always send an invoice for your records with all details of the job included.

My team and i specialize in a number of areas, these being kitchen, bathroom and laundry renovations big and small. All aspects of maintenance including hot water units, blocked drains, burst pipes, tap repairs/replacement,  water filtration. Commercial plumbing for restaurants, schools, hotels, real estate agents.

Every one of my friendly staff are fully qualified plumbers and gasfitters with a combined 50 + years of experience specialising in all aspects of plumbing so any job you need big or small our friendly team will be there to get the job done on time at a standard expectations.
