To provide assurance for clients, En Pointe is insured. While this provides peace of mind for me and for clients, the most important thing is that I never consider a project is completed until a client is 100% satisfied.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I've been in communications and marketing for more than 20 years. When my partner and I had children I became the stay at home dad and that's when I decided to start my own business.

I recently did a website for Melbourne Electric Bicycles  and within a few weeks of going live, the website was receiving 4000 and more visits per month and was helping the new business gain much needed customers.

There are several things I tell people before they start a website project. These include: Make sure you have an agreed brief and quote before going ahead, while there are ongoing fees for a website (perhaps $100 - $200 a year) don't get locked into an expensive ongoing contract with a web developer, and run as quickly as you can from anyone who guarantees you Number 1 in Google!

I receive a variety of questions but the general theme is that people are confused about websites, search engine optimisation and Internet marketing.   One thing I do to reduce confusion is to talk in a language that people understand. SEO, CMS, HTML and other terms may be important to website developers but client don't necessarily need to know what they mean.

Customers can save money by having a good, general idea of what they want and need. If you're after a website, take a look at other websites and identify the looks and features that you like and would want to incorporate into your website.

We keep our overheads low and pass on the savings to customers. So, instead of a website costing $3000, ours generally range from $1200 - $1500. We believe that small businesses should be able to communicate like a big business, without the big business budget.

For larger projects, such as websites, I always provide a fixed quote and project brief. I develop both specifically for the needs of the individual business, at a free and no-obligation meeting.   For smaller jobs, I charge an hourly rate of $65.

My choice of content management system for website development is WordPress. I chose WordPress mainly because it's easy for client to use and therefore they can maintain their own websites. WordPress is also  free so I can pass the savings on to clients.
